Ready to be spooked? What better way to spend October, one of the spookiest months of the year, than by watching horror movies, series, and documentaries to further feel the Halloween vibe? Now, sit back and try to relax, as we go through a few recommendations to watch.

1. American Horror Story

Now on its ninth season, American Horror Story is a spine-chilling series with different themes per season, from eerie ghosts to creepy practices of witchcraft to apocalypses--making it one of the longest-running series of the decade. In those nine years, the series has consistently produced plots about specific subgenres that audiences long for and has gained an average rating of 8.1 over 10 on IMDb. Some of the actors and actresses who were seen in the first season reappear in the next ones, but with different roles, making them more interesting to follow. With this variety of plots, ideas, and roles, one will surely enjoy this hair-raising roller-coaster ride of a show!

2. Final Destination

With an 8.9/10 rating on IMDB, Final Destination is not your ordinary horror film; it is filled with thrilling and gory scenes that are certainly not for the faint-hearted. This classic movie series has five installments, all of which are related to each other by one common situation: the main character dreaming and seeing scenes and clues that will later on lead to a legitimate, unpredictable, sequenced death of everyone he/she is involved with. They may be cliche but if you like gruesome movies, these might be for you.

3. Buzzfeed Unsolved

Buzzfeed Unsolved is a Youtube web series now on its fifth season. It was originally created and hosted by Ryan Bergara, but he was later joined by his co-host Shane Madej. As you can assume from the title itself, they cover unsolved mysteries and cases under various categories, mainly supernatural and true crime. This show may help the audience challenge and enhance their inquisitive skills and critical thinking. If you’re a little busy and cannot spend a lot of time watching TV shows and movies, these 30-minute unrelated mysteries are for you.

4. The Babadook

The Babadook is a horror movie which focuses on the horrendous lives of Amelia Vanek and his son Samuel. Samuel believes there’s a monster inside his head that is absolutely real and is going to get them--a fact that his mother didn’t believe until mysterious things happened in their house, along with a strong sinister presence. This is a mindblowing, disturbing, creepy movie that may haunt your minds for a while. You may want to wait ‘til the morning to watch this as it is not recommended to be watched at night. With a general rating of 8/10, The Babadook is a must-watch for people who love the thrill and suspense of sinisters.
