Sports: Junior Fighting Maroons comes face-to-face with Baby Tamaraws



The University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons faced their 6th loss this season against Far Eastern University (FEU) Baby Tamaraws last December 12, 2018 at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.

It was rough for the Junior Maroons at the start of the game. Their opponent had a tight defense which made the Junior Maroons struggle to score. During the 2nd quarter, with the Baby Tamaraws only 8 points ahead, the Junior Maroons tried to catch up. The shots they had were constantly matched by the Baby Tamaraws which made it even more difficult for them to catch up. The game ended with a score of 72 - 102, in favor of the Baby Tamaraws.

Despite the loss, Ray Allen Torres led the Junior Maroons’ game with a total of 23 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists, followed by Polo Labao with a total of 17 points, 17 rebounds and 1 assist.

“Siguro masasabi ko lang is hindi namin nama-make [‘yung] shots namin and may mental lapses sa defense,” Torres said. “[We should] stay focused and practice hard this coming Thursday and Friday and be ready to get the win. Definitely we need to work hard and kalimutan na ‘yung 1st round, bago[ng] round na so bagong mindset and change [in] our mentality,” he added.

Their last game for the first round of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81 was against the University of the East Junior Warriors last Saturday, December 15 at the same venue.

Bigo ang University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Basketball Team kontra sa National University (NU) Bullpups sa University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81 na ginanap sa Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagle Gym, Katipunan Avenue noong Disyembre 2.

Pinangunahan ni Polo Labao ng Maroons ang laro sa naitalang 20 puntos, 4 rebounds, at 4 assists, at sinundan naman ni Jordi Gomez de Liaño na may 13 puntos at 9 rebounds.

Bagamat hindi pinalad, bigay-todo ang Junior Maroons sa kanilang pagharap sa Bullpups. Sa kalagitnaan ng ikalawang kuwarter ng laban, bumanat sila at nakalamang pa ng isang puntos sa pangunguna nina Labao at Jacob Estrera na walang humpay ang pagpapaulan ng mga tres.

Ngunit malakas ang depensa ng Bullpups, dahilan upang magwagi sa Maroons sa pinal na iskor na 104-54.

Ito na ang ikaapat na laro at talo ng Junior Fighting Maroons para sa unang round ng season. Hindi pinalad ang University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons kontra Adamson University (AdU) Baby Falcons sa kanilang unang laro sa University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81 noong Nobyembre 11 sa Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym, Katipunan Avenue.

Matapang na hinarap ng Junior Maroons ang unang kuwarter ng laban ngunit napag-iwanan ng mga tira ng Baby Falcons. Sinubukang isalba ng mga tres nina Jordi Gomez de Liaño at Ray Allen Torres ang UPIS pero kapos na kapos sa wakas na 23-10, pabor sa AdU.

Pinangunahan pa rin ng Baby Falcons ang ikalawang kuwarter sa kanilang matibay na depensa na hirap lusutan ng Junior Maroons. Hindi sumuko ang UPIS sa pagpipilit na makapuntos, ngunit kung hindi bitin ang mga tira, nasapawan naman ito ng kalaban. Pinagsikapang sagipin ng trio nina Abel Lopez, Gomez de Liaño, at Torres ang Maroons gamit ang kanilang three-point shots pero natapos ang first half sa 45-26, lamang pa rin ang Falcons.

Nag-init na ang UPIS sa ikatlong kuwarter at mas pinatindi ang kanilang opensa. Mahusay ang duo nina Polo Labao at King Vergeire na naging daan upang makaahon ang team mula sa pagkatambak. Nagwakas ang kuwarter na pitong puntos na lang ang angat ng kalaban, 59-52.

Pilit na nag-ungusan ang dalawang koponan sa huling yugto. Bakas ang pagpupursigi, napaliit ng Junior Maroons sa apat na puntos ang lamang ng katunggali. Subalit binawian naman sila nito sa sunod-sunod na pag-shoot na nauwi sa pinal na iskor na 78-66.

“We didn’t start well and nahabol namin sila sa 3rd quarter. Du’n namin na-realize na kaya naming [makipag-compete] sa malalakas na team,” ani Torres, ang highest pointer ng Junior Maroons na lumikom ng 21 puntos.

Nakamit ng University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons ang ikatlong puwesto sa 19 under (19U) division para sa kabuuan ng Sulit.ph Breakdown Basketball Invitational (BBI) Tournament 2018.

Nagkampeon sa dibisyong ito ang University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tiger Cubs at pumangalawa ang College of San Benildo-Rizal (CoSB-R) Blazing Wolves.

Kabilang si Polo Labao at ang team captain na si King Vergeire sa Mythical 5 para sa 19U division. Kasama nila rito sina Joaquin Damiles ng De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ), Bismarck Lina ng UST, at Lenard Parial ng CoSB-R.

Napabilang din si Fighting Maroon Aldous Torculas sa Mythical 5 para naman sa 17 under (17U) division.

Inuwi rin nina Vergeire (19U) at Torculas (17U) ang titulong Most Valuable Player (MVP) dahil sa ipinakita nilang husay sa paglalaro sa buong torneo.

Anim sa walong kalabang koponan ang napatumba ng Junior Maroons sa 19U division: Treston International School, Rich Golden Shower Montessori Center (RGSMC), AMA University, Arellano University, Mapua University, at CoSB-R. Natalo sila sa UST at DLSZ. Nakaharap nila muli ang San Benildo dahil sa tabla ngunit nabigo sa huli nilang pagtutunggali.

Para naman sa 17U division, lima sa pitong kalaban ang nagapi ng Maroons: Treston International School, OB Montessori Center, Inc., RGSMC, Arellano University, at St. Anthony School. Di sila nagtagumpay kontra sa AMA University at sa huling laro laban sa Arellano University.

Ayon kay Vergeire, “Winning is the best feeling for every athlete. Siyempre, we always want to get the dub. It all starts in practice. In practice, we correct our mistakes as a team and as an individual so that when game time comes, we know what to do.”

Ngayon naman ay magiting na hinaharap ng koponan ang mga laban sa University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81. Nakabawi mula sa kanilang pagkatalo sa UST Tiger Cubs ang University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons sa laban kontra Arellano Junior Basketball Team sa Sulit.ph Breakdown Basketball League noong ika-6 ng Oktubre sa Ateneo Moro Lorenzo Gym, Katipunan Avenue.

Maganda ang naging simula ng laro nang maagang nagpaulan ng magkasunod na tres at layup sina Junior Maroons Matt Santiago at Jacob Estrera. Salitan ang dalawang koponan sa pagpuntos hanggang sa nagtapos ang unang kuwarter nang dikit, 21-20, pabor sa Arellano.

Patuloy ang palitan ng iskor sa sumunod na yugto habang pinipilit ng UPIS na ungusan ang Arellano Braves. Dalawang magkasunod na tres ang pinakawalan ni Santiago dahilan ng paglamang ng koponan, kalagitnaan ng kuwarter. Ngunit mabilis na nakahabol ang Arellano at lamang pa rin sila sa dulo, 40-39.

Naging mahina ang depensa ng Maroons sa ikatlong kuwarter dahilan para makalusot ang mga tira ng Braves sa pangunguna ni Ivann Salinel. Napagtagumpayan ng Arellano ang kuwarter sa iskor na 64-56.

Lumobo pa sa siyam na puntos ang lamang ng kalaban pagdating ng huling yugto. Pero late-game ay bumaligtad ang sitwasyon nang sunod-sunod na layup ang binitawan nina Collin Dimaculangan, Aldous Torculas, Ray Allen Torres, at Estrera. Bawing-bawi ang Junior Maroons, 83-77, come-from-behind win.

“It first started sa teamwork namin. Game plan namin, execution, [tapos] ‘yung mga practices namin. Nag-ensayo kami [nang] mas mabuti para mag-bounce back sa mga losses namin,”
ani King Vergeire, ang top scorer.

“Kaming mga veterans, we kept the team composed and I think we did a good job leading the young bloods,” dagdag pa niya.

Ang kanilang sumunod na laban ay sa Zark’s Burgers–Pilipinas-Chinese Amateur Basketball League (PCABL), isang knockout game, na naganap kinabukasan. Sa kasawiang palad, napataob sila ng Ateneo Blue Eaglets.

Nagwagi ang University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons sa kanilang laban sa Sulit.ph Breakdown Basketball Invitational Tournament (U19) kontra sa City of Malabon University (CMU) Basketball Team noong Setyembre 22 sa Ateneo Moro Lorenzo Gym, Katipunan Avenue.

Maganda ang simula ng Maroons nang magpaulan ng jump shots sina Carl Condalor at Jacob Estrera. Ito ang dahilan para makalamang sila agad sa unang kuwarter na nagtapos sa iskor na 13-10.

Mahusay ang depensa ng CMU ngunit di nagpatinag ang UPIS sa sumunod na yugto. Sunod-sunod ang naipasok na tres nina Polo Labao, Collin Dimaculangan, at King Vergeire. Tinambakan ng Maroons ang kalaban sa wakas ng ikalawang kuwarter, 36-20.

Nag-init ang court sa umpisa ng ikatlong kuwarter nang bumawi ng mga tira at umungos ang CMU sa UPIS. Magkasunod na nakapuntos sina Robyn Maclang at Emmanuel Dumon ng CMU. Ngunit di natameme ang Maroons at mas pinatibay ang kanilang depensa. Nauwi ang kuwarter sa 59-40, lamang pa rin ang UPIS.

Nagsumikap bumawi ang CMU sa huling bahagi. Sunod-sunod ang pagpuntos nina Joshua Lazaro, Brian Contreras, at Maclang. Ngunit hindi nagpabaya ang Junior Maroons hanggang dulo. Nagtapos ang laro sa pinal na iskor na 76-57.

Ngunit makaraan ang panalong ito ay natalo naman ang UPIS sa 17U division laban sa AMA University Basketball Team, 89-61, sa parehong araw at lugar.

“Para sa ‘kin, we really did our best in that game. But our turnovers killed us and we weren’t getting enough rebounds. Plus only 7 players played in the game so we were very exhausted. I think if we were just complete we could’ve won it but it is what it is. In order for us to bounce back, we just gotta take care of the ball and laban lang every game,” pahayag ni Dimaculangan sa laro kontra sa AMA.

Muling nakabangon ang University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons matapos ang kanilang sunod-sunod na pagkatalo nang kanilang pabagsakin ang Rich Golden Shower Montessori Center (RGSMC) Basketball Team noong Sabado, Setyembre 8, sa Sulit.ph Breakdown Basketball League na ginanap sa Ateneo Moro Lorenzo Sports Center, Katipunan Avenue.

Ito ang muling pagkapanalo ng UPIS makaraan ang mga pagkabigo laban sa De La Salle Zobel Junior Archers (Agosto 27) sa Sulit.ph, at kontra sa University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs (Agosto 26) at Adamson University Baby Falcons (Setyembre 2) naman sa Zark’s Burgers–Pilipinas-Chinese Amateur Basketball League (PCABL) Smart Invitational Tournament.

Sinimulan nina Imman Armamento, Aldous Torculas, Abel Lopez, Jordi Gomez de Liaño, at Collin Dimaculangan ang unang kuwarter ng laban sa RGSMC. Winakasan ito ng tres ni Torculas na nagpalamang sa UPIS, 15-12.

Humataw ang opensa ng Maroons sa ikalawang yugto sa pangunguna nina Anjelo Moralejo, Dimaculangan, at Gomez de Liaño. Pilit humabol ang iskor ng kalaban sa pagtataguyod nina Luis Guzman at Andrei Toledana ngunit napigilan ng pag-free throw ni Lopez. Natapos ang kuwarter na angat pa rin ang UPIS, 30-23.

Umigting ang atake at depensa ng Maroons sa ikatlong kuwarter. Sa simula pa lamang, nagpaulan na si Dimaculangan ng consecutive shots. Sinubukan pang humabol ng RGSMC ngunit pumalya ang kanilang mga tangkang tres habang hindi nagpaawat ang Maroons sa tulong ng mga 3-point shot ni Gomez de Liaño. Wagi pa rin ang UPIS sa ikatlong kuwarter, 42-30.

Patuloy na umabante ang Maroons sa huling bahagi sa pamumuno nina Dimaculangan, Armamento, at Gomez de Liaño. Nagsikap makapuntos ang kabilang koponan sa pamamagitan ng 2-point shots nina Rommel Reposo at Toledana ngunit matibay pa rin ang depensa ng UPIS. Tinapos ni Fabi sa pag-2-point jump shot ang ikaapat na kuwarter, 70-39, tagumpay ang Maroons.

“We started the game slow. We were missing our free throws and nakisabay kami sa pace ng kalaban kaya dikit pa nu’ng 1st half. But after halftime, we stayed composed and followed coach’s game plan. We started playing defense and we were getting buckets. We were happy about the win but we still gotta work on our free throws and correct our mistakes in practice,” panayam kay Dimaculangan, ang top scorer ng UPIS.
Ang kanilang sumunod na laban ay noong Linggo, Setyembre 9, sa Zark’s Burgers–PCABL Smart Invitational Tournament laban sa Ateneo Blue Eaglets sa Philippine Buddhacare Academy.

Hindi pinalad na manalo ang University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons kontra sa De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ) Junior Archers sa Sulit.ph Breakdown Basketball Invitational Tournament noong Lunes, Agosto 27, sa Ateneo Moro Lorenzo Sports Center, Katipunan Avenue.

Sa umpisa pa lang ng laban, inalat na ang mga layup ng UPIS sabayan pa ng matinding depensa ng DLSZ, dahilan para matambakan ang Maroons sa unang kuwarter, 28-14.

Sinubukang humabol ng UPIS pagdating ng ikalawang yugto ngunit mahina pa rin ang opensa. Dahil sa pag-foul ni Allen Pingol ng Archers, nakapag-free throw nang dalawang beses si Ray Allen Torres ng Maroons na sinusugan pa niya ng two-point layup. Bunga ng magandang depensa, napigilan ng UPIS ang paglobo ng iskor at naibaba sa sampu ang lamang ng kalaban. Nagtapos ang kuwarter sa iskor na 41-31.

Hindi pa rin nagpatalo ang UPIS nang umpisahan ni Timothy Tuazon ang ikatlong kuwarter sa two-point layup. Ngunit solido ang depensa ng DLSZ sa kanilang mga pang-aagaw ng bola at panghaharang sa mga tira ng Maroons na nagpalamang sa kanila sa wakas ng kuwarter, 64-48.

Sa huling bahagi, determinado pa rin ang UPIS na masuwerteng nakapagsunod-sunod na free throws dahil sa mga foul ng kalaban. Pero nakalamang pa rin ang DLSZ sa huli dahil sa sunod-sunod na two-point jump shots. Nagtapos ang laban sa iskor na 82-64, wagi ang DLSZ.

“Ang kailangan naming gawin ay magkaroon ng teamwork at paikutin ang bola,” sabi ni Tuazon, ang top scorer sa laro. “Ang pagkukulang namin ay ‘yung pace, defense, at unity namin,” dagdag pa ni Torres.

Ito ang ikaanim nilang laro sa nasabing torneo at ang una nilang pagkatalo. Tagumpay ang kanilang iniuwi sa unang apat na laban habang pagkabigo naman sa ikalima kontra Treston International College noong Agosto 26, 99-69. Ngunit sa tunggaliang ito, sila pa rin ang itinuring na nagwagi sapagkat ang mga manlalaro ng Treston ay lampas 19 na ang edad na labag sa patakaran.

Hindi rin nagtagumpay ang Junior Fighting Maroons sa laro nila sa Zark’s Burgers–Pilipinas-Chinese Amateur Basketball League (PCABL) Smart Invitational Tournament laban sa University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tiger Cubs, 81-63, noong Agosto 26 sa Philippine Buddhacare Academy.

Ang kanilang susunod na laban ay sa Zark’s Burgers–PCABL Smart Invitationals kontra sa Adamson University Baby Falcons sa darating na Linggo, Setyembre 2, sa parehong venue.

Ikatlong tagumpay na ng University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons nang magapi nila ang Mapua University (MU) Red Robins, 106-79, sa Sulit.ph Breakdown Basketball Invitational (BBI) Tournament noong Linggo, Agosto 19, sa Ateneo Moro Lorenzo Sports Center, Katipunan Avenue.

Hindi pa sila nakakalasap ng pagkatalo matapos pabagsakin ang mga naunang katunggali na OB Montessori Center Basketball Team (98-12) at Arellano Junior Basketball Team (76-72).

Sa laro kontra MU, simula pa lamang, naging mabangis na ang UPIS nang maagang nagpaulan ng tatlong magkakasunod na tres si Jacob Estrera. Pinilit sabayan ng kalaban ang sunod-sunod na steal at tira ng Maroons ngunit kinapos hanggang sa nagtapos ang kuwarter, 32-18.

Tuloy-tuloy ang magandang laro ng UPIS sa ikalawang yugto, buhay na buhay ang depensa na pinangunahan ni Jordi Gomez De Liaño sa kaniyang defensive rebounds. Samantala, ang kabilang koponan ay nagsumikap sa pagtataguyod ni Ruben Mardoquio pero bigo sila sa panghaharang ng Maroons na umungos sa iskor na 64-37.

Maganda ang atake ng team kontra sa depensa ng Red Robins sa ikatlong kuwarter. Naging magandang oportunidad ang pag-foul ng kalaban na nagpa-free throw kina John Timothy Tuason at King Vergeire. Makailang ulit ding naagaw ng UPIS ang bola na nagbunga ng ibayong paglamang, 83-56.

Kamangha-mangha naman ang naging depensa ni Sean Aldous Torculas sa mga tira ng Red Robins sa huling kuwarter. Sinubukan pang humabol ni Mardoquio ngunit lubhang malaki na ang agwat ng iskor na nagtapos sa 27 puntos.

“Sabi ng coaches to start strong and mag-lead kaming mga seniors. Sinunod lang namin ‘yun and naging sobrang solid ng start namin. Nadala namin ‘yung intesity hanggang dulo kaya kami nanalo,” sagot ni Polo Labao, ang top scorer, nang tanungin ang kanilang estratehiya sa laro.

Pang-apat na nakaharap ng Junior Maroons ang AMA University Junior Basketball Team na kanila ring napatumba nitong Agosto 21, 94-91.

Sunod nilang makakabangga ang Treston International College sa Agosto 26 at ang De La Salle Zobel naman sa Agosto 27 sa parehong venue.

Sumabak sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon ang ilang miyembro ng University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Pep Squad sa University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 Streetdance Competition sa SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena noong Marso 11.

Ito ang unang beses na kasali ang juniors (mga mag-aaral sa hayskul) sa nasabing taunang kompetisyon kung saan una silang nagtanghal bago ang kanilang mga counterpart na seniors (mga mag-aaral sa kolehiyo).

Nakaharap ng UPIS Pep Squad, na kinilala bilang University of the Philippines (UP) Junior Streetdance Team, ang Adamson Cauldron Dance Company, Zobel Dance Crew (De La Salle University), Baby Tamaraws Dance Company (Far Eastern University), National University Underdawgz, University of the East Street Warriors, at University of Santo Tomas Galvanize.

Girl power ang tema ng koponan, katulad ng Zobel Dance Crew, na layuning mapalakas ang loob at kumpiyansa ng kababaihan.

Ayon sa team, biglaan ang kanilang paglahok dahil sa imbitasyon ni Coach Paolo Mendoza ng UPIS Basketball Team. Si G. Arjay Calso, guro ng PE at kanilang coach sa Pep Squad, ang siyang gumabay sa kanila para sa paligsahan.

Upang suportahan ang koponan, nagsilbing choreographer si Bb. Abbi Gayagoy, isang miyembro ng UP Streetdance Club at alumna ng UPIS. Kasama niyang nagturo ng routine ang ilan niyang kaibigan at teammates mula sa UP Streetdance Club.

Bukod sa isang buwan lamang ang panahon para makapaghanda, matindi rin ang naging hamon sa UPIS Pep Squad dahil hindi sila sanay sa pagsayaw ng streetdance na iba ang estilo sa cheerdance. Gayunpaman, ibinigay nila ang buong makakaya upang irepresenta ang paaralan.

Inaasahan nila na sa mga susunod pang taon ng kompetisyon, magkakaroon pa rin sila ng pagkakataong lumahok. Kaya naman nais nilang gumawa ng panibagong team, ang UPIS Streetdance Team, para sa mga estudyante na forte ang pagsasayaw ng streetdance.

Nagwagi ang UST Galvanize na may iskor na 82.30, lamang nang 10.8 puntos mula sa pumangalawang team. Nakamit ng Baby Tamaraws Dance Company ang puntos na 71.50 bilang 1st runner up. Habang ang UE Street Warriors naman ay nakakuha ng 71.10 puntos para sa ikatlong puwesto. Kasunod ay ang Zobel Dance Crew, National University Underdawgz, Adamson Cauldron Dance Company, at huli ang UP Junior Streetdance Team.

 Face mask
There are different kinds of face masks based on your skins needs, but two of the easiest to use are the sheet masks and peel-off masks. Sheet masks are usually used for dry skin. It helps hydrate, relax and brighten up your dull skin. On the other hand, peel-off masks are for removing unwanted white and black heads. Be careful though, because peel-off masks can be very painful when used for the first time. And always be sure to use the mask that suits your skins needs.

Moisturizer
Dry and flaky skin? Make sure that you moisturize to get rid of those dry patches and it can also help the skin to be healthier. Moisturizers can help prevent skin problems. If you’re oily, choose a water-based moisturizer so it can be easily absorbed by your skin. The moisturizer you use should be based on the skin type that you have so make sure that you know it before buying the product.

Pimple Treatments
If the first four products weren’t enough to get rid of or prevent pimples then maybe it’s just in your genes. You may just be naturally prone to pimples because it’s in your DNA. But that doesn’t mean you can’t reduce or get rid of it completely. There are a lot of pimple treatments out there that are specifically made to target those pesky little things. There are creams, ointments, soaps and other products. You can even try a Do-It-Yourself recipe that usually includes lemon that will help dry up your pimples faster and honey that is a natural antibacterial. But like all the other products, the type of treatment you use still depends on the skin type that you have.

Always remember that you should use products that match your skin type to get the best results. No two people are the same, therefore, your skin type is also different from everyone else around you. Hindi pinalad magwagi ang University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons Basketball Team laban sa University of the East (UE) Junior Red Warriors sa kanilang huling laro sa University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 noong Pebrero 11 sa Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym, Katipunan.

Pinakamataas na scorer ng Maroons si Matt Santiago na nagtala ng 19 na puntos, kasunod sina Joelo Tupaz at Rafael Labao na tumipa ng tig-15. Habang sa kabilang koponan, nanguna si Andrei Dulalia sa iskor na 24 kasama si Agem Miranda na nag-ambag ng 22 at si Shane Dichoso na may 20.

Maganda pa ang laro ng Maroons sa unang kuwarter sa pakikipagpalitan nila ng puntos sa kalaban. Dikit ang dalawa at nagtapos sa iskor na 20-20, tablado ang dalawang koponan.

Inalat ang mga lay-up ng Red Warriors pagdating ng ikalawang kuwarter at naging mahina rin ang kanilang depensa. Dito pumasok ang sunod-sunod na puntos ng Fighting Maroons at ‘di maawat na pag-free throw na naging daan upang makalamang sila ng 2 puntos. Ngunit hindi pa rin nagkakalayo ang iskor dahil parehong magaling ang opensa ng mga manlalaro. Natapos ang laban sa 38-36, lamang ang Junior Maroons.

Tuloy ang pagpuntos ng Maroons at mahigpit ang depensa pagdating sa ikatlong kuwarter. Pero humataw ang kalabang si Dustin Angeles ng magkakasunod na tres na bumuhat sa kanyang koponan. Humabol ang Maroons ngunit kinapos sa iskor na 70-65, pabor sa Warriors.

Nagsimula ang huling kuwarter sa hindi pagkakaintindihan ni R. Labao ng Junior Maroons at ni Policarpio Darvin ng Junior Warriors. Natigil lamang ang tensyon nang sila’y awatin ng referee at ng kanilang teammates. Naging matibay ang depensa ng UE hanggang sa sila’y magwagi, 94-85.

Huling laro na ito ng Grado 12 na si R. Labao kasama ang kanyang batchmates na sina Tupaz, Jaggie Gregorio, at Carlos Villareal. Huling laban na rin ito para sa Grado 11 na sina Santiago at King Vergeire kahit hindi pa nila ito huling taon sa UPIS dahil sila’y overage na ayon sa patakaran.

“This season has been one hell of a roller coaster ride [...] We’ve created this bond we could call more than a team, it’s a family. Future endeavours? I plan to continue working and finish all the unfinished business we had here in high school. All for the game,” sabi ni Gregorio.

“We gave everything we’ve got this season. We had our share of ups and downs, but most importantly we went through it together. Representing the school’s name in front of our jersey gave us inspiration to overcome adversity,” dugtong ni Maroons team captain Villareal.

Nagtapos ang season ng Junior Fighting Maroons sa tatlong panalo at 11 talo. Ang mga koponan na magtatapat bilang final four ay ang Ateneo Blue Eaglets, NU Bullpups, UST Tiger Cubs, at FEU Baby Tamaraws.
