Literary (Submission): Tahimik

Tahimik
Ang bawat sandali
Madilim
At walang makita

Walang umiimik
Sa ating dalawa
Tahimik ang paligid
Ngunit isipa’y puno ng salita

Inayos ang mga iniisip
Tinanggal ang mga buhol
Ngunit pagbukas ng bibig
Mga salita’y paputol-putol

Sa loob ng ilang minuto
Lumipas ang magpakailanman
Sinong mag-aakalang
Nakabibingi ang katahimikan

Nang ika'y nagbukas ng bibig
At binitawan ang mga salita
Nabasag ang katahimikang
Bumabalot sa ating dalawa

"Hindi ka para sa akin
Hindi ko na kaya
Naglaho na ang dating
Nakikita natin sa isa't isa"

Sinubukang muling magsalita
Sinubukang magpaliwanag
Sinubukang mangatwiran
Sinubukang humingi ng tawad

Ngunit ika'y nakatalikod na
At naglalakad papalayo
Iniwan ang lahat--
Mga alaala, at mga pangako natin

Pilit na kinakalimutan
Ang bawat pinagsamahan
Pero di ko kayang iwanan
Nang simbilis ng iyong paglisan

Ako ba'y manghihinayang
O ika'y pipigilan
Mga masasayang alaalang
Nasa aking isipan

Ngunit sino ba ako
Para ika'y tutulan
Kung iyong paglisan
Ay ang iyong kaligayahan

Aking pipiliin
Ang sariling kalungkutan
Makita ka lamang
Na may angking kasiyahan

Nandito lang ako
Kung saan mo ako iniwan
Umiiyak, humihikbi
Nag-iisip, natutulala
Tahimik na muli ang bawat sandali
Madilim na muli at walang makita

Literary (Submission): Up

You make me feel like I'm flying
Like I'm soaring, diving, gliding
Away from this world, toward a new one
Where pain, suffering, and grief are gone
A world where it's just you and me,
Where we can be who we want to be

Together we'll fly among the clouds
Escape the madness, the chaos, the crowds
Past the mountains, the buildings, and cities
We are one with the wind and the cold breeze
We'll fly up, up, and get carried away
Up here we're untouchable, up here we won't fade

Then we're back on land again
And we have to forget, we have to pretend
Suddenly we're strangers, not even friends
For every flight has to come to an end

Literary (Submission): Brush Stroke

A brush between my fingers
A blank canvas on its stand
"Just paint what's on your mind,"
They said, "Paint with what's in your hands."

And so the brush strokes trail the surface
Painting pictures of the past
Outlining them in black and white
Because memories just don't last

Once again I looked back
At the chances I didn't take
The words I didn't say
The decisions I didn't make

Once again I looked back
Though it's hard to reminisce
Every mistake I made
Each opportunity I missed

I don't stop the brush strokes
'Til the thoughts are off my mind
Until there is no blank space left
Until the memories are painted here
And not in the past

Then I stand back and look
At the painting in front of me
A dense dark mass of regret
Is all that I could see

So I open a can of fresh new paint
The room is silent, no words are said
As I cover each and every memory
With a coat of deep red

Literary (Submission): Hope

It would be easy
To give up and let go,
To drop everything and leave,
To stop trying so hard
But if that's so,
Then why are we still here,
alive, awake, and moving?

The reasons are everywhere
The reasons could be small things,
A compliment here and there,
How the sky looked this morning,
A smile, a wave or a "hi"
Or the flowers you pass by

The reason is friends and family
The reason is hope and positivity
And being thankful for being here
Though things aren't always clear

"What keeps you going?"
The answer's different for everyone
"What keeps you up?"
The reasons are never gone
Some reasons are hard to see
But no matter how challenging things may seem to be,
There's always a reason somewhere there
To lift you from despair
Whether the reasons are big or small
We hang on to the hope that saves us all

Literary (Submission): Night

When the moon replaces the sun in the sky
And the stars start to shine up high
The world is filled with bright lights
And secrets come out at night

Each person is a mystery
There's always more than what we see
Secrets waiting to be freed
To spill them becomes an absolute need

The night holds confessions of almost everyone
Every secret hidden under the sun
All the "I like yous" and " I-want-to-be-yours"
Are spoken and delivered in these late hours

Deep, heartfelt conversations
Painful, bitter rejections
The truth will be set free
Ruined friendships, a lost you and me

Then the sun shows its face again
And everybody has to pretend
Like nothing in the past night happened
All the secrets come to an end

As the stars start to fade away
And then starts another day
No traces at all in sight
The secrets disappear like the night

Literary (Submission): Siya

Literary (Submission): Brighter

“You can’t do it.”
Their words sharp as knives
“You’ll never make it.”
Their words echo in her head
Eating up her thoughts
A dense, black mass
Dragging her down
Sucking her into the night

Little drops of despair start to fall
Down her face onto her pillow
Her hope and confidence
Drip down the drain
Her world turns to gray
As the stars start to fade away
And the moon that once shone bright
Has lost its place in the sky tonight

But then an idea comes
Dripping into her thoughts
Growing and growing
Larger than the negativity
“Prove them wrong,”
It begs to be heard

She rises from
The tear-drenched bed
The growing thought
Still in her head

And when the tears dry
No longer drops of pain
And she stands up straight
The way she should have stood
All her life

The stars regain their luster
The moon finds its place in the sky
And the stars of the night it seemed
Shone brighter than they ever had

Literary (Submission): Thoughts

Would you be the one to make me happy?
When I am not in the mood
Or when the tears are slowly coming?

Would you be the one to show me
That someone cares for me?
When I’m feeling scared and lonely?

Would you be the one to fix me
When I’m breaking into pieces
And cannot handle all the feelings?

Would you be the one to save me
When I am drowning
In the thoughts I’m thinking?

Would you do those things for me
As I would for you?

These thoughts surround my head
With the answers that were left unsaid
And these feelings of mine that you never felt
