english,
“You can’t do it.”
Their words sharp as knives
“You’ll never make it.”
Their words echo in her head
Eating up her thoughts
A dense, black mass
Dragging her down
Sucking her into the night
Little drops of despair start to fall
Down her face onto her pillow
Her hope and confidence
Drip down the drain
Her world turns to gray
As the stars start to fade away
And the moon that once shone bright
Has lost its place in the sky tonight
But then an idea comes
Dripping into her thoughts
Growing and growing
Larger than the negativity
“Prove them wrong,”
It begs to be heard
She rises from
The tear-drenched bed
The growing thought
Still in her head
And when the tears dry
No longer drops of pain
And she stands up straight
The way she should have stood
All her life
The stars regain their luster
The moon finds its place in the sky
And the stars of the night it seemed
Shone brighter than they ever had
