Literary (Submission): Assassinate

A fight breaks out
From the shadows, no doubt
Of the dangers of the dark.

Where in time cannot reverse,
A dance seemingly rehearsed,
An assassin has found his mark.

Even as the other didn’t anticipate,
A battle that requires them to participate,
Both are in the inbetween of life and death.

Slight shock, surprise
In the look of one’s eyes.
A close match is met.

A dodge, the sound of a blade,
Blows and attempts of slashes made,
To the end where only one wins.

Not that long until the sound of a thud,
And the scent of free flowing blood,
And the wait for new victims begins.

Literary (Submission): Smort

The sun slowly sets in the horizon. In a lone rooftop, two figures sit on the edge, side by side.

“The only sure thing
Is the finity of everything.”

“Dude, finity isn’t a word.”

“Oh, well you know what I mean.”

A pause.

“What is infinity?”

“Never-ending, I guess.”

“Does that exist?”

“Mm, not sure.”

“What doesn’t end?”

“Us, hopefully.”

An intake of breath is heard.

“Dude..”

“You’re so dumb.”

Literary (Submission): Hole-y

Several holes on the roof of a church

The altar boys joked that they let the rays of Heavens in.

Beneath them buckets to catch rainfall.
Beneath them the sounds of worship through gritted teeth.

Several holes in the divider of a confession.

The father said they let God in, for your sins should not be kept in your heart.

Beneath the confession a bigger sin lies,
Beneath is the darkness surrounding the light.

Literary (Submission): A Set of Haikus about Our Goodbyes

This bitter curse stays,
As we leave each other’s arms:
I miss you too much.

Your sweet whispers stay
Ghosting in between my ears
“Just know I love you.”

Don’t be mistaken.
Love is dreamlike, but still real.
Doubting only hurts.

You are terrified
Years from now I will forget
Knowing you will not.

However, darling
I don’t think I can forget
This eternal love.

Your lip marks still stay,
Your scent will always linger
Your heart still in mine.

Your presence still felt.
Even when you walk away,
Trust in beating hearts.

This one empty room
Where if we can stay for long,
We’d stay forever.

We’d hear the clocks tick
But time stays an illusion
When we’re together.

When it’s time to leave
As we leave each other’s arms:
“I’ll miss you too much.”
