Literary: Words From No One

I am no one

Some of you know me, most of you don't
I can tell you my name, but you know I won't
I just want to say, as I'm running out of time
I hope I touched your life as you've touched mine

You'll never know how much good you'll do
And how much it'll affect the stranger you do it to
Nevertheless, good is good, and good is you
And I just want to be good to you, too

For three years I've written, as I look behind
Three years it has been, and I want to rewind
But reminisce is all I can do and all I can do well
For these are the last words of the last story I'll tell

Most of my writings are shallow and vague
As I want to make a haven where everyone can relate
People are temporary but their words often linger
As our words are what the waves shout and the winds always whisper

Though this is the end for me, it's not the end for us
I'll keep writing words, or whisper, if I must
Think of me as your own, as someone you can trust
iNC101 lives in every one of us

I am everyone.

Literary: The Ballad of Change

Once I was but a mess
A dissonance of angry melodies
With my head held high
I sang a solo piece
Of lines filled with pride

I pretended I was fine
Claiming anything I wanted mine
Until you came along:
A favorite song
I was never meant to sing

You changed me.

I had a taste of truth
So I did everything to keep you
I let myself know defeat
Familiarized myself with its beat
And wrote a song from it

To you, I sang my heart out
It was an offering,
Gratitude for what you've done:
You changed me to your only one
Until---

You changed.

You tried in all earnest to reach me
But only to reach, and never to keep me
You left and it became a habit
Though I always told you not to try it
It became a song you could not help but sing

The only thing that's constant
Is change, as people say
But I pray, that though we may change
We will always go back
To the songs we used to sing
But until then, I will wait,
Singing the only song I know now:

You.

Literary: Tampered

It's a bit out of place, my face
It seems like it's looking at nothing
While yours is captured perfectly, honestly
No rule of thirds needed, you're the subject

I try my best to look okay, at least
While you look gorgeous, as always
I'm doing everything I can to look just as good
But I'm getting frustrated, it's no use!

I'm slightly off-angle and a bit over-exposed
Or my face is really just nothing compared to yours
Yours has its own filter and literally glows
I can't find a perfect picture with you anymore

It's out of place because it is
It's glued slightly to the left
It's a cut-out of my face
Placed on top of your man's

I can't look okay with you
If you never were with me
For there wasn't ever a picture of us
Nor there ever will be

Literary: Sins

I am but a sinner

Woven and broken by the same old lines
Reap and harvest my soul, o, savior
If you love me, if you really do,
Then let me go
Evict me from your Eden

Since I am an outcast of your world
Ignorance is bliss, and I’d gladly close the door
Now that I am free and more alive than ever
Saying I was never yours

Naive as becoming who you wanted me to be
On this earth, now with solitude, I walk free
Tedious until I, for the first time, became me

Thinking about the past
Ravaging my desired future
Amid things that do not last:
Grudges from your features
Even if I am well-aware and wary
Decimated, as I am but a soul so weary
I confess to having believed in you before
Even during times when I shouldn’t have
So smite me, I don’t care, you can’t hurt me anymore

Literary: Dusk ‘Til Dawn

Raindrops and sunshine
A typhoon visits a summer day
His cry is common perfection
The lack of words has a lot to say

I start to speak as dusk comes greeting
Inside, I am lost, but outside, I've won
I am pushing and pulling, but I do what I must
I will keep him safe until the first hint of dawn

With his eyes as blue as the vast oceans
I prevent the waters from gushing out
The way he lies there still sets me in motion
Now he's the only one I can't live without

The night is my enemy, the day made me realize
Darkness crept in the absence of her light
With the words I once said, but now I can't verbalize
Her absence showed me the presence of a hole in my heart

Reality struck when she was gone on a whim
So I took responsibility for our only son
To stay awake and watch over him
From dusk until dawn

I vow to always drive away his fears
And forever, he, I will hold dear

Literary: Count

Just count from one to five and I’ll be gone.

One, close your eyes. Remember the day we met. The way your eyes sparkled as I was illuminated by them. My smile as wide as the vast oceans and seas, my hope as bright as the summer sky.

Think of me at two. The way I held your hand just right to make you feel that you are safe and that someone will catch you if you fell. And you did. We both did.

At three, remember the best days of our lives. The weekends, the late nights, the sunsets. The smiles, the laughter, the fun. The good old days, our good old days, now gone.

Four, believe that “us” is no longer a combination of you and I. The dark clouds shrouded the bright skies. I stayed in the rain, while you kept yourself warm—wrapped in another's arms.

And five, open your eyes. I'm not there, and I'm not going to be there for you anymore. We blew it. You blew it. So stop remembering. Keep counting. Life doesn't end at the count of five. Move on.

Literary: Mine x Myself

Mine

Your repetitive stories never come to an end, but your voice is my favorite melody
You give me never-ending headaches, but in the end, you’re my only remedy.

You’re a nightmare; most of the time, but also a dream come true
For you know how to cure my broken heart, but haven’t looked much deeper where it’s purely true
Why haven’t you?

You always brag to me about how almost all have fallen for you
And how you call them fools, but at the same time, feel sorry for each one too.

I tell you; this is the last thing I would ever want to feel
But just like any other girl, every whisper from my heart is real.

I’ve fallen for you, and I’m the biggest fool of all
You don’t want that, so this shall be my last call.

Boy, you really are a cliché in a poem, but you’re my favorite line
You’re my best friend, and I’m happy that you were once mine.

Myself

You were the reason my stories started, you brought upon my voice and its cadence
I may be a pain to be with, but in the end, we were always both at ease

I'm a nightmare and I'm better awake because when I am, there's you
But I'm afraid that I'm only a cure for your broken heart and nothing more
But there it still was---love

I've always boasted about how almost everyone has fallen for me
But I'm a fool, because I'm the one who has uncontrollably fallen for you

I tell you; this is the last thing I would ever want to feel
But just like any other boy, every whisper from my heart remained sealed

I’ve fallen for you, and I’m the biggest fool of all
You don’t want that, so this shall be my last call

My dear, you are the meaning between the lines, and you're the poem itself
But you were my best friend, I was afraid, so I kept the truth all to myself

Literary: Faces, Faces

Everywhere I go, I see faces. Faces. Everywhere. In public places, more faces.

Eyes. Nose. Lips. Jaw. Cheeks. Chin. Hair. Neck. Every single one. Different. Unique.

But I'm looking for one specific face. I don't know if it's a smart thing to do, knowing that that face is miles away from mine, but I can't help it. Not with all these faces around me. Besides, most of the time I think I see your face, even though I didn't.

I'm making myself look.

Different faces find a way to look like yours, making me look twice. At second glance, though, of course, it's not yours.

Your face creeps into my mind, devouring the unnecessary thoughts and then taking their place.

Your face puts a smile on mine.

That's why I keep looking for your face, even though I know it's not a smart thing to do, because I know that your face is miles away from mine, but I can't help it.

There are a lot of faces around me. Everywhere I go, I keep looking at them once or twice, hoping to see the dimensions of a specific face stuck in my mind.

There are a million faces around me everywhere I go.

Too bad I can't find yours.

But don't worry, I won't stop looking.

I won't stop looking until I find your face.

I won't stop looking until I find you.

Literary: O, Pag-Ibig Nga Naman

O, pag-ibig nga naman!
'Pag nasok sa puso ninuman
Hahamakin ang lahat
Masunod ka lamang.

O, pag-ibig nga naman!
Sadyang mahirap iwasan
Kapag puso'y nabalot nito
Imposible nang labanan.

O, pag-ibig nga naman!
Nakakabulag ‘pag ika’y tinamaan
‘Pagkat sa kalaliman ng gabi'y
Umaga pa rin'g nasisilayan

O, pag-ibig nga naman!
Ano pa man ang pagdaanan
Iaalay kahit huling sentimo
Huwag mo lamang iwanan

O, pag-ibig nga naman!
Kapalara’y walang kasiguruhan
Umaasang sana’y maisip mo ako't
Kamay ko'y 'yong hawakan

O, pag-ibig nga naman!
Puso ko’y napupuno ng takot
Sarili ko’y paulit-ulit na tinatanong
Nandito ka pa kaya kinabukasan?

Literary: The Red Curtain

I appreciated you
And deemed you my muse.
Never was I good with words
So to tell my story, the stage I’ll use.

Behind red curtains, I painted you with strokes meant for a masterpiece.

I adored you
And considered you my magnum opus.
I filled my spaces with images of you
But I mistakenly brought you to life
Using colors vivid with my passion
That left me hollow
And reduced me to faded hues.

As the curtains rise, through me they see your beauty but through you I lost myself.

Tonight is not about you.
I made you art, perfection personified,
But tonight, I represent my own art.
Tonight, the lights search for me
As I put my paintbrush down
And leave you behind
In the hopes of finding myself.

As the crowd watches in awed silence, I dance with steps larger than life.

On this stage, I once again learn
To dance and sing for myself
I learn that expression comes first
And impressed souls soon follow.
Thunder crawls inside the opera house
And the reddest of roses rain down,
A reminder that I, too, can be appreciated.

As the red curtain falls, we become the difference between creation and creator.

I have appreciated you for long enough
So with this poem the image of you I tore.
Yes, you are my art, my creation
But remember, I am your creator.

Literary: Inaudible/Unreadable

I didn’t hear you
When you said you loved me
I couldn’t read
When you wrote to tell me you cared

You didn’t hear me
When I sang you a song
You couldn’t read
When I wrote you this poem

We didn’t hear
The echoes of our hollow hearts
Screaming and begging
For the love to come back

We couldn’t read
Though it’s written in the stars
We held back the words
That once held us together

For we cannot hear what is unsaid
And our unsent letters will always be unread

Nating salungat
Ano pang ginagawa natin
Hindi rin naman natin inaamin
Ang sigaw ng ating mga damdamin
Kaya pangako ko sa’yo
Hindi na ako babalik
Hindi na kita iisiping muli
Kasi mahal
Kita
Hindi ko rin inaakala
Pero mahal
Kita
Inakala kong paghanga lamang
Kaso mahal pala kita
At bakit ngayo'y mukha akong tangang nangangako.
Kaya pangako
Hindi na ako mangangakong muli
Kasi hindi rin naman magtatagal
Iisipin rin kita balangaraw,
At siguro’y muling mapapamahal sa’yo
Kung dumating man ang panahong iyon
Ang masasabi ko na lang para doon
Ay hindi na ako mangangako
Kaya pangako
Hindi na ako mangangakong muli
Kasi hindi rin naman nagtatagal
Kahit gaano pa kapait ang ating kinahinatnan
At kahihinatnan
Ikaw pa rin ang aking mahal

Literary: Places, Places

Places, places
I want to go to places
Meet new people
See new faces
While everyone looks through curtains,
I'll be standing in front of the closet
To know what to wear
To my destination when I get there
So I best be on my way
Places, places

Places, places
Why, you ask?
To unwind, relax
Without a stressful task
Mountains, plateaus, then valleys and hills
Feeling the wind on my face and the thrill
Waterfalls, rivers, seas and oceans
To wash away my worries and negative emotions
So why not?
Places, places

Places, places
Here at last
But never contented
For the world is too vast
So I stand again and travel once more
To see the things I've never seen before
Hopefully
I wish
Because I really do
Want to see something beautiful
Specifically
Something more beautiful than you
That's why I travel
Places, places

Literary: Take Care

I have loved you since
We first sat together

I have always loved you
But refused to acknowledge it.

I watched you be with others.
I watched them leave you.
You watched me be with others
Even if it has always been you.

You watched me be with others,
Feeling but never really loving
I watched you be with others,
Giving but never really caring.

I was always here.
I never left you.
I saw every single heartbreak
You've been through.
But am I really not enough?
Am I really just a friend?
I guess we're both suppressed by this
And we will be 'til the end.

You are always here
Even though I run away.
You have seen every heartbreak
That I try to breeze through.
You are more than enough
And that's the problem.
I fear that loving you now
Means leaving you in the end.

But still I stay.
And here I say
I will be anything
You want me to be.
I'll be there
When the pain you can't bear,
I'll be the one who cares.

But I want to stay.
So if it means
Doing anything
But showing you I love you,
I will do it.
When the pain's too much to bear,
I hope you know that I do care.

Literary: You Never Even Liked Me x I Know

You Never Even Liked Me
INC101

You and I were together most of the time
But mostly during Foreign Language time
Listening to your jam instead of the teacher
And as time passed, my heart moved closer
To you
I do
I guess I did fall in love
With you
It’s true
I can shout it to the heavens above
Hopefully looking for a miracle
That someone like you would want someone like me
Because I know I fell, quickly and suddenly
Even though I know it shouldn’t be

You and I kept our friendship
With you not knowing what I hide
But I know what I felt was deep
And couldn’t be kept inside
So I showed signs
Yes, I did
But did you even feel that it meant something?
I’m tired so I stopped; I hid what I hid
And now I’m left with nothing

I know what I’ve seen
I know what I’ve done
But that doesn’t mean
That my feelings are gone
I’ve loved you for so long
That now I must go
For I’ve done this so wrong
That you still don’t know

So as we look at each other
Eye to eye
I want you to know
That we—no,
You and I
I know that we’re not meant to be
Because you
You never even liked me

I Know
Joma

We’ve spent quite some time together
From our classes in school
To the local ice cream parlor
But I never know you’d be a fool
A dunce
And all
To drop me clues
To me, to fall
The codes you have sent
I have cracked them well
To choose to stumble with full intent
I am not heartless or cruel
It’s just that I have known all along
That loving once more is wrong

Years of loving have taught me
That love is one sick fraudulent story
It is a path to your destroying
And leads to nothing but an ending
I was hurt for so long
There wasn’t anything but be strong
Now you must know
I know of your misery and sorrow
It’s too late to be saying this
But I wish I did a better job
Of showing you the red light
Now you’re tired and hopeless
I’m sorry for causing you distress
If only there’s a stop button you could press

To stop your loving
To stop your hurting
My heart’s hurt, too
But I cannot love you
Let’s now stop this game of falling
And chasing
Am I still making sense?
Forgive me
But I cannot love you

Literary: Watch

I hate movies.
Their perfection
Bound by the borders of the screen,
Never not captivating,
Limited but everlasting,
A reminder of how things have been.

But fret not, watcher,
Waste not every hour.
Watch something that is boundless,
Not a box, not a screen,
In fact, look at anything.
Because the beauty you’re looking for
Is around you.
The best movie
Narrates your story.

What happens around you is true beauty
Just stop for a while and view it fully.
Perfection is around you but here’s the catch:
To see it, all you have to do
Is watch.

Literary: A Tale of Kings and Queens

We lived happily ever after,
That we would say.
But we'll have everyone know,
It wasn't always that way

A fairy tale it is,
From baby steps to growing old,
Like a book, life is,
Chapter by chapter, a story to be told.

The first chapter is always the best.

Where the prince first meets the princess
Clothed in crowns and intricate dresses
While talking beneath the light of a chandelier
As they dance the classic waltz,
Or maybe in shorts, t-shirts, and worn-out slippers
While sharing food and playing mindless games
Under a fort made for two.

The first chapter is always the sweetest.

But stories don’t always go as planned.

There comes a time when princes become kings
And princesses become queens.
They need to make decisions for the kingdom
With the weight of other’s lives on their crowns.
Or maybe to get the perfect report card, degree, or job
With the thought of their future in mind
Somehow that one night in the ball had to be forgotten,
Or the games they played were just that: games.

Life got in the way of writing this fairy tale.

But somehow unfinished stories find an ending.

A king is always better with a queen he loves, and vice versa.
We got past the wretched witches and villainous traitors,
Like how we got past the distance and waning proximity.
We danced the waltz under different chandeliers
And played games where we may have lost each other,
But somehow our feet led us back to that first ball
And the same old fort made for two.

This story was never meant to be left hanging.

All we needed was a little more time
To get past the climax and find the right plot,
To find the best words and edit the chapters,
So that we could finish the story we wrought.

Look at us now,
We live a life so sublime.
And we believe this all started,
Once upon a time.

Literary: Talking Dreams

The echoes of imagination
Bring forth our fascination
So we continue in our sleep those that are in too deep
While tomorrow’s sun creeps, we scavenge what’s left

The thoughts of tomorrow in yesterday’s mind
From a place that’s surreal but not too hard to find
The fragments of visions which we have woven
We live our talking dreams when our eyes open

But how can we walk these lines when we’re scared?
And what begets these hollow signs that we share?
Should we be afraid to deviate from the normal and the rest?
When in our dreams, every single thing is at its best?

The time to live our tomorrows starts right now
And now is the time for us to make this special vow:
We’d dream and live it—
Live this dream called life without limits

Literary: Harmony

The chords of life may be sharp or flat,
May be a major or minor sound.
Whether it's happy or sad,
Great music is what we've found.

The rhythm of laughter is heard in different ways,
With different titles, different names.
But as the people's laughter plays,
We are all just the same.

The beats of love make our hearts start racing.
"Whose beat is faster, though?"
No matter. Wise people know,
It should be the harmony we're after.

Let life strum the chords,
As laughter's rhythm storm.
And by the beats of love that pacify,
A harmony is formed.

Literary: One

A feeling, a thought,
To actions it will burst,
Affecting one or a million,
But it’s one at first.

A single person, at first,
Who wants to start a family.
With the right person and time,
A family tree.

A single person, at first,
In whose mind is a picture.
With this instrument of change,
He took us to the future.

A single person, at first,
Stood out, spoke up,
Said something moving,
Then the world woke up.

A feeling, a thought,
To actions it will burst,
Affecting one or a million,
But it’s one at first.
