Custodian “Day Off”, handog ng pKA 7-10

Ginanap ang taunang outreach program ng Pamahalaan ng Kamag-aral 7-10 kaninang Abril 13, 2015 sa bulwagan.

Ang programa ay pinamagatang “Day Off” na may temang “Magpahinga at Magsaya kasama ang Pamilya.” Layunin nito na magpasalamat at bigyan ng isang araw na pahinga ang mga staff at custodian workers upang magsaya at magrelax kasama ang kanilang pamilya.


Nagbigay ng pambungad na salita ng Prinsipal na si Dr. San Jose. Sinundan ito ng mga laro katulad ng “Daddy Goes to Market” “BasketBalloon” at “Trip to Jerusalem.” Nagkaroon ng mga raffle at namahagi ng grocery bags para sa custodians at nagsalo-salo ang lahat sa isang boodle fight. Bilang pagtatapos ng programa, nagbigay ng pangwakas na pananalita ni Aemel De Leon, Pangulo ng pKA 7-10.

WiFi sa Complab, tinanggal na

Pinutol na ang koneksyon ng WiFi sa computer lab noong nakaraang linggo.

Nadiskubre na maraming estudyante ang nakikigamit sa WiFi ng computer lab. Marami ang nagsasabing ginagamit ito ng mga estudyante para makapagtweet ng galit nila sa mga teacher, makapagsearch ng homework nila sa iba’t ibang subject at lalong-lalo na ang makapagCOC.

“Sayang! Natalo tuloy kami sa Clan War!” ang sabi ni Daniel Viliran.

“Napagalitan tuloy ako ni Ma’am! Wala akong homework!” sabi pa ni Kim Gamboa.

Maramiing estudyante ang nadismaya at nalungkot sa pagkaalis ng WiFi. Ayon naman sa isang guro na itatago natin na pangalang ‘Barney’, ito ang dapat gawin upang hindi samantalahin ang WiFi sa ating paaralan.

Sports: UPIS VST members to represent the Philippines in international competitions

Drew Benett Magbag of 9-Silver and Pricila Loren Aquino of 10-Lauan, members of the UPIS Varsity Swimming Team (UPIS VST) will be participating in international swimming competitions this year.

Magbag was timed 1:10 in the 100m breaststroke in the Philippine Swimming League. His impressive finish became his ticket to entering the Indian Ocean All Star Challenge to be held in Australia in April.

On the other hand, Aquino’s 2:32 time in the 200m Individual Medley qualified her for the July World University Games in South Korea.

Together with other Filipino representatives, they will be competing against well-known swimmers around the world.

With high hopes, Magbag promised, “I will do my best and try to bring home the bacon,” while Aquino said, “I will try my best for the Philippines. (I will give my) full effort.” / by Patricia Enriquez and Quiela Salazar

Sports: UPIS TnF aims high in UAAP 77

The UPIS Track and Field (TnF) Team hopes to surpass their impressive third place finish last season when they compete in the UAAP Season 77 Athletics competition from December 6-10 at the Philsports Arena (formerly ULTRA).

Even with the graduation of star runner and back-to-back MVP Jaime Mejia (Batch 2014), this year’s team captain Rafael de Peralta has high expectations for the team’s chances. He said that the team is young but it has a lot of potential.

Former UPIS TnF team member Renzo Domingo (Batch 2013) who is now one of the team’s coaches is confident about setting a goal for the team.

“Ang goal siguro ay mabeat yung mga personal bests nila (Maybe the goal is to beat their personal bests),” said Domingo.

The whole team is in high spirits and is in good shape upon entering the competition. They have been training hard everyday after class hours and have been participating in tune-up competitions to help them prepare for this year’s UAAP season.

“Makikita niyong handa kami (You will see that we are well prepared),” said de Peralta.

“Sasabak kami sa giyera nang may dala kaming bala (We will go into war with weapons locked and loaded),” said Paolo Bartilad, a member of the team.

As the team said, there is only one phrase that will describe their performance this season: “All out.”

UPIS students also have positive things to say about the chances of the TnF team.

“Babawiin nila yung nawala sa kanila (They will take back what they lost),” said Jediael Neri, a Grade 10 student.

“Sa tingin ko babawi sila (I think they will bounce back),” said Ella Santiaguel, a member of the UPIS Pep Squad.

Digital Display, sinimulan ng gamitin sa UPIS

Ang Digital Display ay ikinabit sa Ramp area at ginagamit
para sa mga anunsiyo at balitang pampaaralan.
Unang ginamit ang 50-inch Digital Display sa pagbubukas ng Ikalawang Semestre sa UPIS 7-12.

Ayon kay Bb. Ross Kline Empleo, Information Officer ng UPIS, imunungkahi ang proyektong ito ng kumpanyang Digiplay Boracay sa pangunguna ng Chief Operating Officer na si G. Tos Vea, isang UPIS alumnus. Binanggit din niya na makakatulong ito na maiparating ng mas mabilis ang mga anunsiyo at balita ng paaralan.

Animnapung porsyento (60%) ng mga ipinapakita sa Digital Display ay mga anunsiyo, balita at iba pang impormasyon mula sa paaralan. Samantala, ang apatnapung porsyento (40%) naman ay mga TV commercial na dumaan at inaprubahan ng ORDP at APAP.

Ilan sa mga paaralang may parehong sistema ay Adamson University, Ateneo de Manila University, at De La Salle University. / nina Quiela Salazar at Nicole Rabang
