Grades 8 & 9 perform in culminating activities

Batches 2019 and 2018 staged the last culminating activities of AY 2014-2105 at the UPIS Auditorium last March 20 and 25 as their final requirement for Music 8 and Filipino 9, respectively.

Each Grade 8 section performed a medley of songs of the Afro-American and Gospel genre. 8-Butterfly won 1st place with their rendition of “I Will Follow Him” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”

Meanwhile, Grade 9 performed the plays they prepared based on Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere.

The award for Best Play was given to 9-Silver, while the individual awards were given to David de Layola of 9-Gold (Best Actor as Elias) and Marianne Sasing of 9-Iron (Best Actress as Sisa).

8-Honeybee wins annual Music Culminating Activity

The three Grade 8 sections of Batch 2018 competed in the annual Music culminating activity at the UPIS auditorium last March 14.

The overall theme for the program featured blues music. Each presentation had a song-and-dance number. Music instructor Leujim Martinez invited three blues musicians and experts to judge the Grade 8 classes.

8-Honeybee won first place for their lively performance of "Just Like a Woman."

8-Ladybug performed a dramatic love story of a woman and man who met and fell in love in a bar while Firefly went next with the story of a forbidden love between a white man and a black girl.

An intermission number was performed by Tracy Carreon and Uriel Sunga, with Ryan Cacho on the guitar. The judges showcased a blues number with 8th grader Bjorn Amargo on drums before the results were announced.
