UPIS Scouts hold Annual Camp 2014

The UPIS Senior Boy (BSP) and Girl (GSP) Scouts took part in their yearly outdoor camp from January 30 to February 3 at different camping venues in Batangas.

The BSP Phoenix and GSP Cadets facilitated their respective camps. The GSP camping consisted of trekking, a cook-out, campfire, and various team building activities in order to put to good use the skills learned as a girl scout.

The BSP camp consisted of a 5-day survival camp at Lobo, Batangas. In order to meet to accomplish the requirements for Venturer and Eagle scout, the boys had to experience survival and isolation activities in the jungle and at the beach. The Senior Scouts were assisted by the Philippine Coastguard, Army, and Ranger to help assure the safety of the camp. / with reports from B. Bagnes, D. Saunders, et al.

UPIS boy scouts participate in Scout Memorial Day

UPIS was awarded as the most active school in District 4 while Senior Scout Adrian Bornilla of Batch 2018 won first place in the quiz bee in the recently concluded Council Camp held at the Quezon Memorial Circle from July 26-28.

The camp was held in commemoration of Scout Memorial Day where the scouts also paid tribute to the 24 deceased scout heroes by hiking from Quezon Memorial Circle to the Boy Scout Memorial at Tomas Morato where they held mass and offered flowers.

Scout Memorial Day is held every July 28 to honor the 20 Boy Scouts and 4 scoutmasters who died in a plane crash while on their way to Marathon, Greece where they were to be the Philippine delegates of the 11th International Jamboree in 1963.

Taunang Leadership Camp, isinagawa

Idinaos ang Leadership Camp (LC) 2012 noong Hulyo 13-14 sa UPIS 7-10 grounds.

Ang LC ngayong taon na sinalihan ng 147 mag-aaral mula Grado 3-10 ay pinamagatang “KATALISKO: Pagtatakda ng Bagong Pamantayan at Tradisyon ng mga Dekalidad na Lider-Isko”. Naglalayon itong mahubog ang kasanayan sa pamumuno ng mga mag-aaral ng UPIS.

Nagsimula ang opening program sa ganap na ika-5 ng hapon noong Biyernes. Tampok dito ang paunang salita ni Dr. Ronaldo San Jose, prinsipal, at ang kaniyang pagbati sa lahat ng mga kalahok.

Sinundan naman ito ng mga talk mula kina Bb. Sheila Fernandez at Dr. Anothony Cordero na nag-pokus sa responsibilidad ng mga pinuno at pagiging mapanuri ng mga UPIS leaders.

Maliban sa mga talks, nagkaroon rin ng mga work session na binuo ng apat na bahagi – Huwarang Lider, Project Proposal, Minutes Taking and Financial Report, Outreach Program, at Disciplinary Measures—upang maihanda ang mga lider-isko sa kanilang mga responsibilidad sa paaralan sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng mga hands-on na trabaho.

Nagkaroon din dalawang team building activities - ang “Katagisan” kung saan sinubok ang kakayahan nila magplano at ang “Katalisador” na isang alternative application ng mga natutunan ng mga kasali sa buong camp.

Matapos ito, nagkaroon ng awarding kung saan binigyan ng gantimpala ang mga mag-aaral at pangkat na nagpakita ng husay sa iba’t ibang aktibidad. Ilan sa mga parangal ay ang Best Group Presentation, Bibo award at ang Early Bird award.
