Literary: The Right Choice

It took me two and a half years
Trying to hold back drops of my tears
Hurting in ways I don’t deserve
Pushing to finally choose myself

I am sure I did the right thing
We were victims of our own doing
And I know I made the right choice
For this will silence the harsh chaos

But the rain turned into a storm
Here I am, feeling alone and cold.
Why, though, does it not quite feel right?
Nobody has remained by my side

Despite my strive to move forward
I always end up back to the start
Who can pick me up off the floor
Is also the cause of my downfall

But I know a morning will come
Where this pain I’m feeling will be gone
Everything will feel so unreal
Because there are no wounds that don’t heal

When I am finally okay
I will surely look back on today
And thank myself for enduring
The pain I thought was never ending

For the glow and strength I will bare
will be the product of my despair

Literary: The Missing Part

Dream

Dream

A man entered the room
He was charming, I admit
With a soul as pure as an angel’s
I fell in love for the first time
A man entered the room,
He was charming, for sure
Not the perfect prince by all means,
But I fell in love nonetheless
A happy crush turned into something serious
As we became closer and closer
I had the courage to admit my feelings
Surprisingly he felt the same way too
A happy crush turned into something serious
As we became closer and closer
I had the courage to admit my feelings
Surprisingly he felt the same way too
I imagined our relationship to be like Mama and Papa’s
Full of joy, nothing in between
The happiness that comes with being in love
The feeling I had been dreaming to experience
I imagined our relationship to be like Mama and Papa’s
Full of joy, nothing in between
The happiness that comes with being in love
A dream one only wishes they could attain
My parents would often tell stories of their love
How their eyes twinkled the first time they met,
And how that shine never went away
Although it was cute and sweet, some parts were missing
My parents would often tell stories of their love
How their eyes twinkled the first time they met,
And how that shine never went away
Although it was cute and sweet, some parts were missing

Awake

Awake

They didn't tell me about the pain
The bitterness that came out of nowhere
A sudden gap in interest
Seeds of doubt sown deep into the soil
They didn't tell me about the pain
The bitterness that came out of nowhere
A sudden gap in interest
Seeds of doubt sown deep into the soil
"Am I not good enough?"
“What do I lack?”
An ugly story untold
Illusioned behind rose-tinted glasses
"Am I not good enough?"
“What do I lack?”
An ugly story untold
Illusioned behind rose-tinted glasses
The dream slowly vanished
For our own voices
Kept piling on top of the other
The relationship has come to an end
The dream was never in sight
And so we pull ourselves back to the ground
A relationship mended
Misunderstandings come to an end
I can say without a doubt
I was in love
But the insecurities I have
Tell me I’m not ready for this
I can say without a doubt
I am in love
Thanks to our shortcomings
And our faults
I was in love
So much that it hurt
To the point I couldn’t breathe
Leaving me no choice but to let go
I am in love
So much that it hurts
In more ways than one
But this pain, I will accept
Because I needed a different kind of love
The kind no one else can give but me
Nonetheless, I wish the best for him
We who were in love
Because it is I who yearned for love
And it is he who gave it back
He who desires it all the same
We who are in love

Literary: Disney

I was once an innocent child
Blinded from the truth that was wild
Wishing to grow up already
Live a life just like in Disney

I dreamt of being a princess
In a world that’s full of kindness
Living in a castle of ice
Near a sea would also be nice

Getting an astounding power
Like controlling ice and water
Or having long hair that could heal
Something I wished to have and feel

With friends I would never ignore
Seven dwarfs I’d really adore
Mrs. Potts who was like my mother
Don’t forget my fish friend, Flounder

On a magic carpet, I’d hop
Gonna fly off without a map
In a life that was full of laughter
With happily ever after

Now that I’m older and wiser
Eyes starting to open wider
My dream world vanished in a wink
How ironic it is to think

I have a voice for me to speak
Feet and legs so I won’t stand weak
Powers that were taken away
By them who lead in a bad way

Only myself I can embrace
In a corner, my safest place
Dopey, Grumpy, Bashful, my friends
Please hold me as my nightmare ends

There’s no fairy that can save you
But a witch, I can say, is true
We have been living in terror
How did I not see this before

Opening your eyes is painful
And closing them is for the fool
This is the life I need to face
Disney is a mythical place

Literary (Submission): Sharing This Room

The room turned bright when she said, "You missed me little boy, didn't you?"

She raised me up and up above her head then held me close to her chest and shoulders. I didn't think that anything could make this room any brighter until she said, “I have a surprise for you.”

“What is it? What is it?” I asked, but of course all she heard were my giddy “arfs” and “woofs.”

I sniffed her bag. Nope, not my favorite treat. I sniffed again. Nope, it does not smell like a brand new toy.

On the third sniff, I gave up and barked at her. “Okay, okay. Calm down,” she said as she put me down. She unzipped her big, big bag to let out a small, small surprise.

What is it? It looks like a ball of fluff--a toy afterall!

...But it seems a bit different compared to the ball she gave me on my last--what did she call it?-- bow-day? bird-day? birthday? Yes! I think that's right.

She put it down next to me and I noticed that it is quite odd with those two shiny beads embedded on it. I ambled towards it to take a closer look. Wah! It moved! Am I seeing things right?

And a one, two, three--it does move!

I stared at it and it let out a little “woof.” It looks just like me!

“Are you glad to have a new friend?” she asked.

Literary (Submission): This Room

It is yet another desolate night. I am once again stuck in this dimly lit room with nothing good to do. But even if I’m left with my favorite things, I do not have the energy to use them.

The bowl of food, left alone since lunch, is still sitting on the floor next to a wide cup filled with water. I would have to suffer a couple more hours in the company of little ants who have greater appetite than me. I normally would be mad at them for taking my prized food, but now, it doesn’t matter – nothing does.

Dear, oh dear! How long do I have to endure this loneliness? How can I keep my sanity with nothing to hear but the monotonous whirring of this tall electric fan? If the television was left turned on, it could have distracted me from this familiar glum feeling that I have yet been accustomed to. If only I could read the clock and set an alarm until the time when--

Wait! Am I hearing this correctly? Are those clanging of metal keys?

...

Bam!

Yes, that's the gate. She's finally here.

"Arf, arf!" I bark.

She walked towards me to pat my head and say, "You missed me little boy, didn't you?"

The room turned bright.

Literary (Submission): Sulyap

Binibining aking pinahalagahan
Abot kamay na sa aking harapan
Aking minimithing kaligayahan
Isang sulyap lamang nakamtan
