Hi po mga ates and kuyas from 19nite!! Good luck talaga for all the incoming exams, especially yung upcoming UPCAT. Dami ko pomg respeto sa inyo dahil ang hirap kaya ng reqs at college review. Pero kinaya niyo. Kung hindi kayo papasa sa gusto niyong college, okay lang! There will be brighter days ahead. Good luck nevertheless!

Sa mahigit labintatlong taon na pag-aaral sa ating paaralan, nandiyan na po kayo, malapit nang maabot ang matagal nang hangarin. Ilang hakbang na lang po ay mararating niyo na ang tuktok na maaaring dalhin kayo sa panibagong yugto ng inyong buhay. Tuwing kayo po ay pinanghihinaan ng loob, tandaan niyo lang po kung bakit po kayo nagsimulang lumaban. Huwag niyo rin po sanang kalimutan na nandito kami, ang 23nith, na patuloy po na sumusuporta sa inyo.

Hello batch 2019!
We would like to wish you good luck for your UPCAT!
Thank you for all the memories, no matter how small, you shared with us.
Thank you for your patience whenever we would be too immature for you.
Even if you'll all be in college in the next few years, please, please visit us, for all of us and all of the other batches will miss you.
Whenever a batch in UPIS leaves for college, there will always be another empty hole for us to fill. But with that empty hole comes our pride for all of your accomplishments and memories.
College will most definitely bring hardships, but you all have to remember that all the problems you will encounter will just be new challenges in your life. Whatever university you enter, you will always meet new people- people who will stay in your life forever, and people who will only be temporary. No matter who they are, always be sure to learn a new lesson from each one you meet. Don't ever take anybody or anything for granted. Everything has a reason- may it be a low grade or a fight with a friend. It's all a challenge you have to overcome and an adventure you have to make. Make the best of all your memories, and learn from your mistakes. When the world becomes too much, remember that there will always be someone to hold on to, to cry on, and to love and support you through it all.
You are not alone.

News: Batches 2019 and 2020 glimmer in Lumine 2017
A luminous night indeed.
Juniors and Seniors from Batches 2019 and 2020 illuminated the Celebrity Sports Plaza, Quezon City in Lumine, their Junior-Senior Promenade, last February 18.
This year's prom featured a program inspired by the details in renowned Harry Potter series by author J.K. Rowling. The Triwizard Tournament was a new activity for this year’s prom where representatives from both batches competed to be the first to answer a question correctly. The winner’s table got to be the first to eat.
Another first in Lumine is “The Chosen Ones” title awarded to Batch 2020’s Megarth Morillo and Sophia Loriega. The title was accorded to the pair who picked the papers with the words “The Chosen Ones” written on them.
Michael Tee Jr. and Samantha Faye Salazar were crowned as this year’s Prom King and Queen while Bryant Galicia and Ellene Arceo were hailed as Prom Prince and Princess.

The traditional turnover ceremony was also held wherein the seniors passed on their responsibilities to the juniors. The key that represents the responsibilities was handed over to Erika Sasazawa, the President of Juniors Association by Fred Samonte, Senior Council’s president; the torch of light from Chesca Joves to Mae Rodgers and the banner of Excellence from Patience Ventura to Rizza Cabrera.
Pairs from both batches were chosen to dance the cotillion. Bands Amamimamols, FLL, Smilky, and Silakbo together with other artists performed in the event as well. //Bryan Lina, Rebeca Sinchongco
Gatchalian bags 2nd in Elevate Feature Writing
Storm Gatchalian of 10-Molave won runner-up honors in the feature writing for beginners contest at the recent Elevate V: Understanding Biases and Objectivity held last Saturday, September 24 at the UPIS 7-12 grounds.
Gatchalian wrote a feature article titled “Memorable Yah!” about how one can be remembered. His piece was chosen among more than 20 works of other high school students who also joined the competition.

Elevate is an annual event organized by DZUP Radio Circle, one of the student organization in the UP College of Mass Communication. The event aims to promote responsible journalism among high school students and future practitioners of the field. Around 500 students from various schools nationwide joined this year’s workshop and competition.
UPIS was represented by 21 Grade 10 students from the Social Sciences and Humanities track. They were assigned to different parts of the competition such as editorial writing, radio broadcasting, layouting, and photojournalism.
“Marami akong natutunan….very educational, but at the same time very fun kasi parang pwede mong matutunan kung ano yung skills mo na magagamit mo din sa real life,” Gatchalian said of the event.
Aside from Gatchalian, Josh Santos’ group also won first place in the radio broadcasting event wherein groups of students from different schools were tasked to create a 5-minute radio program.

New batch of UPIS students participates in I Can Fly program
Twenty UPIS students were chosen by Cathay Pacific (CX) Philippines to participate in the second installment of the I Can Fly program in the country.CX handpicked UPIS Batch 2019 students Adriel Alcantara, Gab Aparato, Kyle Bowers, Paula Buada, Louis Caguiat, Roy Canapi, Nona Catubig, Gail Clemente, Storm Gatchalian, Marlyn Go, Rain Grimaldo, Yssa Luna, Bianca Morales, Marlon Nahial, Chae Rivera, Max Salvador, Fred Samonte, Matt Santiago, Roan Ticman, and Inna Zuñiga along with 10 other students from ERDA Technical and Vocational Secondary School in Pandacan, Manila, to join the program which ran from July 26 to 29.

First rolled out last year, I Can Fly is a program for high school students to encourage their interest in aviation and social services through introduction of the basics in the airline industry. From last year’s 15 participants, the pool has been doubled this year due to the success of the program’s first installment which included students from UPIS Batch 2018.
Similar to last year’s program, participants were introduced to the different departments, teams and staff of CX at the Cathay Pacific Ltd. Main Office, NAIA Terminal, and NAIA Complex. They also helped in the “Life Well Travelled” campaign by creating slogans for three different travelers and conducted the company’s CSR program at an orphanage by organizing a puppet show for the children.
On July 29, the participants graduated from the program at the Makati Sports Club, where they received their awards and performed an original song they composed. CX also announced that the top three participants, Aparato, Samonte and ERDA Tech’s Jskie Laguinday, will be visiting Cathay Pacific’s Hong Kong office in October or November. // by Trisa De Ocampo
UPIS Juniors and Seniors travel back to the roaring twenties in Mirage 2016
It was a soiree of opulence and luxor.Batches 2018 (2x9) and 2019 (19nite) illuminated The Grand Terrace, Quezon City in their Junior-Senior Promenade, dubbed Mirage, last February 27, 2016.
This year’s prom features The Great Gatsby, a 1920s inspired masquerade. The batches’ subject teachers and school administration personnel, including principal Dr. Ronaldo M. San Jose also graced the event.
The seniors passed on their responsibilities to the juniors during the turnover ceremony. The key of responsibility was handed over by Franz Candido, the Senior Council president, to Ron Castro, the Junior Association president; the torch of light from Drew Magbag to Chesca Joves; and the banner of excellence from Marianne Sasing to Patience Ventura.
Chosen pairs from each batch presented in the cotillion. Bands and other artists from both batches also performed for the event.

SoA 2019 hosts Acque: Around the World
The annual Acquaintance Party (Acque) for Grade 7 and 8 students was held at the UPIS 3-6 Bulwagan last Monday, September 22, 2014. Batches 2019 and 2020 celebrated the event with this year’s chosen theme: “Around The World”. |

There were also special performances from select students, a social dance segment, and a raffle.
The Acque is an annual event was facilitated by the Sophomore Association to welcome the freshmen and to establish camaraderie between the two batches.
According to Ron Castro, president of the Sophomore Association, the whole planning experience was hard and really required a lot from them, but in the end it was all worth-it.
