Literary (Submission): You and I

DIFFERENCES
by Michael Tee, Jr.

You are a sunflower
That always faces the bright side of things
And you stand with the heat and light on your face

I am the mushroom
That looms in the shadows, hiding from everyone
And I lie in the damp cool ground within my caves

We are different from each other
Completely opposite
Together for now, but will soon part from each other

POLARITY
by Zero

You are water
That ripples in my mind
And splashes the rocks by the sea

I am oil
That can’t catch up with your greatness
And am slow but more intact

We are elements that aren’t for each other
Whatever we do we can’t be together
It would be better if we could
Just part ways. Forever.

APART

You are like the rainbow
That appears after the rain
And gives me hope for a better day

I am like the moon
That can never be with you
And always in the dark without you

We are like the sky and earth
That can never be together
But here I am, still hoping for the better

Literary (Submission): Remember Me

I hope you remember me
When you watch your favorite movie
When you eat a blueberry
When you reread Casual Vacancy

I hope you remember me
When you go for a swim at the pool
When you wear Roshes and feel cool
When you drink like a fool

I hope you remember me
When you see the mural we painted
When you walk by the alley where we skated
When you drive by the shed where I usually waited

Because I remember you
When I listen to Eraserheads
When I lay still on my bed
When I remember the things you said

I remember you
When I see blonde hair
When I smell rain in the air
When I visit carnivals and fair

But I remember you the most
When I see your face
When I see that you’ve changed the pace
When I realize that you’ve forgotten me, left no trace

Literary (Submission): Anong Meron sa Pag-ibig?

Anong meron sa pag-ibig,
Kung nagmamahal ka
Di naman matumbasan.

Anong meron sa pag-ibig,
Kung nagmahal ka
Di ka na pala mahal.

Anong meron sa pag-ibig,
Kung sa simula mahal mo talaga
Siya pinag-aralan lang mahalin ka.

Anong meron sa pag-ibig?
Masasagot mo ba?
Maipapaliwanag mo kaya?

Anong meron sa pag-ibig?
Masasagot ko.
Maipaliliwanag ko.

Ang pag-ibig ay patas
Parehong kailangan matumbasan.

Ang pag-ibig nararamdaman
Di kailangang pag-aralan.

Ang pag-ibig panghabambuhay
Di nauubos, naglalaho.

Kung bibigyan mo ako ng pagkakataon
Sagutin sa harap mo ang tanong…
Anong meron sa pag-ibig?

IKAW.

Literary: Psyche

Hey, I just wanted to say I like you. A lot.
No.
We’ve been best friends for like, what, a year
This is stupid.
I love you
Oh hell no.

I crossed off everything, crumpling the paper into a ball. I swear this confession is going nowhere.

Why don’t you just. Go say it. You know. Right now.

...

“I... I like you!” I blurted out, unable to look you in the face.
“You... What?” You looked at me, confused.

My best friend of 4 years, looking at me in a way... In a way I can’t... Don’t know how to react to.

“I like you.” I said calmly, or at least sounding calm, even daring to look in your eyes. It took all my self-control to keep standing there looking like a goddamn idiot.

“What do you mean?” You looked quizzically at me. Not believing.

“I mean I really like you. More than a friend. Ro-romantically.” Did I just... Oh my god I stuttered.

“I. Well. I don’t think I, I don’t know if, I...” You said, lowering your gaze, talking slowly and hesitantly.

...

You know what? No.

No. We are not going there.

Forget this confession, let’s just keep this... Friendship. I’m. Ok. With. That.

...

“Dude. Dude, I cannot believe you fell for that! Psyche!” I spit out, a little too loudly.

“I... You... What?” You widened your eyes, giving me a light punch afterwards.

“It was just a stupid dare. Prank. You know. Whatever.” I said, putting on a smile.

“Well, you got me-”

”It’s not like I’m really gay or anything. That would be stupid.” I laughed out loud.

“I don’t think... Hey, being gay is not-”

“Right.” I cut you off yet again, waving my hand.

...

Except it was.

I saw how stupid it was, saw it in your eyes, heard it in your voice.

Well, you know what?

Psyche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
