Batches 2018, 2019 celebrate a blazing Acquaintance Party

The Sophomore Association organized the party with the purpose of igniting the friendship between the two batches.
A few interaction games were played like the Speedy game and Red, Orange, Yellow.
The performers included: Therese de Sales Papa, Samuel Silvestre, Yumi dela Torre, Caitlin Norona, 6th Ave., Ktips, 8-Ladybug, and X-Pride.
The Best Dressed Awards called “Girl on Fire” and “Boy on Fire” were awarded to Hannah Manalo and Allane Barles for Grade 8 and Ravi Gaudiel and Gabriel Aparato for Grade 7.
The party was originally scheduled for September 23 but due to bad weather, it was postponed. / by Micah Macasieb

UPIS holds 3-day mentoring workshop
A 3-day training seminar on mentoring for UPIS faculty members which aims to enhance and improve the teaching skills, strategies, working relationship and professionalism of the teachers was held last July 15-17 at the 7-10 Library.This mentoring program is part of faculty development. It was initiated by the past administration under Dr. Aurora Zuniga.
The 3-day training was handled by retired UPIS faculty members and professors from the College of Education who are also affiliated with the Marie Eugenie Institute that sponsors mentoring programs.
Aside from affirming the UPIS mentoring advocacy, it also helped the teachers work better and cooperate with each other.
The seminar included lectures and demonstrations. There were also activities that aimed to help solve common problems in class and in the workplace. These are especially beneficial to the new teachers and helpful in re-affirming and reminding the more senior faculty members.

Learning Plus to start this school year
The Department of CA English, Music and Art (CA EMA) has started preparations for a reading remediation program for Grades 3-9 students this school year.According to Prof. Ma. Lourdes Vargas, head of CA EMA department, the Learning Plus or L+ program was started by Prof. Bernadette Santos in AY 2005-2006. It was revived in 2011, but due to conflicts in the schedule it was discontinued. This year, the schedule has been set in place and the program is more structured.
Students part of the program are required to attend 1-hour sessions which include lessons that aim to develop good reading habits and positive reading attitude. Parents with children part of the program will receive a letter regarding the session details.
