Dahil kaya kitang mahalin.

What is everything?

First, everything is me,
I am everything.
That’s what I care about most.
That’s what I value most.

Then everything is family,
They are the people in my life,
Who care about me and for me;
Their mere presence makes anywhere,
Have the familiar comfort of a home;

Then everything is my friends,
They are those with whom I find,
The pleasures and joys of life,
And they are that warm embrace,
When my face is streaked with tears.

Then everything is the universe,
It is the stars and planets,
And that vast expanse between;
It dwarfs me in its magnificence,
Leaving me but a speck of dust;

But now and most importantly,
Everything is you,

You are the stars and planets,
And that vast expanse between;
You dwarf me in your magnificence,
Leaving me but a speck of dust;
You, to me, are the universe.

You are her with whom I find,
The pleasures and joys of life;
And you are that warm embrace,
When my face is streaked with tears.
You, to me, are a friend.

You are that person in my life,
Who cares about me and for me;
Your mere presence makes anywhere,
Have the familiar comfort of a home;
You, to me, are family.

And you’re what I value most.
You’re what I care about most.
You, to me, are everything

A goal worth pursuing
A foundation for attempts
A beginning that was magical
A girl worth loving

All was supposed to be perfect
All measures taken to be accurate
All results checked twice over
All done thinking of getting closer

None of them succeeded
None even came close
None of what I thought was true
None of it will ever happen again

No more attempts or trials
No more failures and embarrassment
No more pain and suffering
No more of you

I've tried and tried
Again and again
Over and over
But I can't seem to find out why

You never loved me back

Literary: A Single Smile

10/27/2017 08:55:00 PM Media Center 0 Comments

A day can go from bad to worse,
Can make you feel unlucky to cursed.
Can get you down and cause a frown,
Or simply leave you bound to ground.

But at times like this I have noticed,
Something like a hypothesis
Even if you’re blue for a while
No day ends without a single smile.

It can be a from any moment,
That may have made you grin,
A tiny titter from a win,
A shy giggle from a mishap,
A loud laugh you just can’t stop.
A silly joke that made you chuckle,
Or from someone’s funny chortle.

If in the end of the day you still feel bad
Just count the beaming moments you had.
And remember all the reasons why
It gave you that single smile.

Silent voices
Creeping in
They keep screaming
Inside my brain
Little thoughts
Always coming
I keep doubting
My existence
As they consume me
I keep searching
An absolute theory
to interpret my actuality
Perhaps
Seeking one
Has never been
Trouble-free
For I am
Just a theory

There are billions of people in this world
That I wouldn’t be able to meet
All linked by the same thread
Weaved in the same web
And I was fortunate enough
To interact with many

But because of unexplainable reasons
The one that matters most
Is the nearest
Yet hardest to reach

Six
Six degrees of separation
Few but tough obstacles that hinder
The barriers between him and me

Five
Five moments of hesitation
Waiting for the right time to profess
Yet leaving with feelings still kept hidden

Four
Four months of false hope
And these were entirely my fault
For interpreting all his friendly gestures wrong

Three
Three words of confession
Imprisoned in my own doubt
And shall stay a secret forever

Two
Two eyes of longing
For the smile he has, caused by another
And the happiness radiating from him and her

And one
One heart full of pure affection
For the boy oblivious to the joy he brings
To me who receives no love in return
And yet, refuses to give up and believe

That I was the only one destined to fall
He was the one I have always looked for
And that an “us” will remain a theory
Never anything more

Teoryang Karyoko
Pinaikling “karma” at “ayaw ko”
Na iluminsayon sa bawat sandaling
“Ayaw ko sa’yo,” ang ibinubulong
Ng mga labi ng natitipuhan mo

Karma
Ito ang bukod-tanging sagot
Sa makasarili mong lungkot
Dahil muli’t muling babalik sa iyo
Aking pagdadalamhating iyong idinudulot

Ngunit ang pagbabayad-utang nga ba
Ang pangunahing simulain ng pag-ibig
Kung puro gantihan lang din naman
Ang ating kinahahantungan?

Sige
Ako na mismo’ng makikipagtunggali
Ipaglalaban kita kahit pa napakahapdi
Pasensya na’t nagpakabulag ang sarili;

Kathang-isip lamang nitong nagkakaila kong puso

Billy wasn’t the brightest, but he also wasn’t the dimmest. He was like everybody else, actually – except for one thing: he was very forgetful. He forgets to toast his sandwiches during breakfast. He forgets to turn on the shower before taking a bath. Heck, he even forgot to put his clothes on once before going to school!

Now, it was one sunny day, and Billy was late for school. It shouldn’t matter much, except that every single subject of the day had major tests and quizzes waiting for him and his classmates, so he had to go to school quick! But in his mad rush to get to school, he didn’t realize that he left his bag at home, only noticing it when his classmates pointed it out. As he doesn’t have anything else with him, he asked his classmates for any writing material, yet they all can’t lend anything to him.

Of course, considering that the entire day was filled with consecutive tests, and he had nothing to write with, he failed. Badly. And, of course, his parents heard of it. His father, however, was the one who took it worse.

His father was working out of town as a construction worker, and the news that his son messed up put him in a bad mood for the entire day. He wasn’t able to focus on the ongoing construction, and as he was passing around the materials, he lost his grip on them, sending them down to his coworkers below. They managed to catch them, stumbling into the weaker parts of the scaffolding, sending a huge chunk of it and collapsing on the ground.

One worker got his legs caught while everything was collapsing around him. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but considering that his legs were outright crushed, and that he cannot afford any prosthetics for them, he was rendered immobile from the waist down for the rest of his life. So of course, he had to go and get a wheelchair to be remotely able to move around town.

Many months later, he was getting used to his new life as a cripple, and while he was out doing errands on a cold winter morning, his wheelchair started slipping around the ice, and down the slope of a hill. At the bottom, children were playing, and as they noticed the poor guy screaming as his wheelchair sped down the hill, they decided to run away in different directions, to avoid getting hit.

One of them just so happened to run across the path of a garbage truck, which was full to the brim with the neighborhood’s trash. And so, the garbage truck swerved over to one side to get out of the kid’s way, but instead it crashed on a telephone pole, knocking it over.

The telephone pole crashed down on a neighbor’s house, into the kitchen. The gas stove got hit and started a fire before the fuel tanks promptly exploded. The entire house managed to catch fire, and considering how close the other houses were to each other, so did they. Not much time had passed before a third of the neighborhood was blazing away. With the fire brigade rushing towards it, an entire morning was spent combatting the flames, until the ruins laysmoldering on the snow.

With an entire third of the local populace displaced, they had to go and seek shelter elsewhere. Thankfully, their neighbors were kind enough to offer them their homes as temporary refuge while those affected either started rebuilding their houses or looked for another place to stay. And despite all that had happened, they still found reason to smile. After all, what’s the point of dwelling on the problems now, when you can try with all your might and succeed over them instead?

Little do they know that it was all because Billy forgot his bag.

The past is unreal.
There is no such thing as yesterday.
From the moment his eyes met mine and started the magic
From the way he told me he loved me and made my heart skip a beat.

From the day he said he had enough of me.
To the moment I let him go because I knew we weren’t meant to be
The moment our love became nothing but a memory
The moment I thought I could never be able to stand up again
And eventually found another who I can love with my whole being

All of that is untrue.
Because they never existed.

Because what’s real is today, right now, the present
This day is the only one that truly exists
From your hand that’s holding mine right now.
To the coffee we’re drinking under this cold starry night
From this moment we’re sharing under the moon
To the loving gaze you’re giving me as I read this poem to you
The both of us are what matters now
Because my present is you.

Mary was a scientist
Living in her little black and white room
She knew everything there ever was
From the first ray of light to our impending doom

Mary knew everything
What, who, where, when, why, how
She knew every research ever made
All about the past, the future and the now

All she has in her little room
Is her one black and white computer
Telling her everything she needs to know
All information known from then and forever

Now, Mary knew one thing in particular
She knew everything about colors
How many neurons vibrate, jump and go
She knew of red and blue and yellow

Mary knows the pigment composition
Of every color ever made
But Mary has never seen
One color on her screen

One day, her computer turned itself off
And the screen went all black
Mary tried to fix it
But she couldn’t bring the picture back

Then it buzzed
And showed a single picture on the screen
On a blue background was a red apple
With leaves colored green

Now the question is this:
Does Mary know something new?
Since she has never seen color
What does this picture do?

To Mary who has only known black and white
But knows everything happening in the brain
Does Mary already know the sensation
Of seeing red and blue and green?

Not everything could be represented by formulas
Or letters or numbers themselves
So, Mary wouldn’t know what it truly feels like
Until she has seen the colors herself

I believe that everything has its reason, that things are meant to happen, emotions are meant to be felt, and realities are meant to be accepted. To keep moving forward no matter what happens, whether you can’t find your purpose or you lost your happiness. Don’t go backwards despite the pain of your past keeps pulling you to them; if things are getting tough stop for a moment, think about what you should and shouldn’t be doing. And the most common misconception is that you should always do the right thing. No, you shouldn’t. Choose the wise decision over being right, because if you’re doing nothing wrong, you’re not improving yourself, there are no mistakes to learn from. If you keep going right, you’re always bound to come back to where you began. I learned that the hard way.

For years I remained hopeful, for a love that I thought was worth trying. I knew that I shouldn’t rush things so I waited, I thought that waiting for the right time, waiting for the universe to do its magic is all I had to do. But, no it doesn’t work that way. I was losing hope, after being hurt and feeling so tired, I broke down. I spent weeks sleeping at 3AM, months of inconsistency, and years of trying hard to have something that isn’t really meant to be, just to find out that this wasn’t for me, this, isn’t ever going to be for us. But despite what happened, I have no regrets. And I’m not taking back what I said that she was worth pursuing, because I still think she is, but the thing is we don’t deserve each other. We couldn’t give the love we both deserved.

But I found a new light, a reason to believe that that there’s something better in store for us. She started out as someone who makes me smile for no reason. And eventually we became the happiness I lost, it wasn’t the same as before, but why ask for the same thing if the fate of that is just to be lost again. To be the one that sees her best even when she’s at her best... to have someone lift you even when you’re at your lowest. To never had the thought to complain that you’re tired of what you’re doing because you always see that she’s worth every single effort. Actually being valuable to someone, the feeling that you really are likeable, that someone could actually love you the way you deserve to be loved. To have someone pick up your broken pieces as you pick up hers. Finally having a reason to believe in love again, a reason to believe that things will be better.

This may seem too optimistic but it’s another point of view you may want to consider. You may not get what you wanted the first time around, but you’ll get the good things you deserve eventually. Always choose the wise decision over the right one. Choose to move forward and refuse to move backward, you’re never unworthy of the good things in life. Thank you because you’re the inspiration behind my theorization.

When the truth is hard to believe,
There’s a book you can read,
An article you can retrieve,
Or a person you can seek.

Which talks about Beyoncé and Jay-z,
As leaders of the Illuminati.
Extraterrestrials who roam around,
Capturing those who are safe and sound.

Talks about how cloning exists,
The frightening rise of ISIS,
The ever-growing Mandela Effect,
And hybrid humans and insects.

Taylor Swift’s the queen of lizards,
Around a bunch of hunky bodyguards.
The moon landing was also deemed fake,
And people shape-shift into snakes.

Conspiracy theories,
Are just beliefs,
Only made up,
To mask and cover reality.

These helped me believe,
That the love we had was not real.
I was blinded with your guaranteed security,
Without any sign of certainty.

They say true dreamers never sleep,
So here I am, on a never ending trip.
Directions leading to nowhere,
Act as my guide as I explore this world.

Lost in my unconscious thoughts,
My repressed feelings embrace me.
Introduced themselves one by one,
Made sure that I recognize them.

In here,
I see my hidden desires,
Those I didn't know before.

In here,
I fulfill my concealed wishes,
Those I never dared to say out loud.

In here,
There are no lies, no secrets,
Just pure emotion, just as Freud said.

In here,
I see the real me,
And the monsters that control me.

But still,
I choose to continue the long drive,
Because reality is much more cruel,
Than the beasts on my own road.

You—
Are the reason I'm fighting this fight
My driving force to see the light
At the end of this
tunnel, cave or road;
Whatever you may call this life

You—
Are the reason why I get up in the morning
Why I choose to live despite these feelings
Of regret, sorrow, and remorse
For me just being—
Me

You—
Accepted all my mistakes;
Mistakes this society forced me to unmake—
Which, I’m sorry,
I can’t undo,
I can’t erase,
I can’t forsake

But

You—
Healed me with your love,
And I thank the Heavens above
For sending me a
friend, a shoulder, a God
Lord, you are my ikigai
The reason I try
My best to stay alive

“Hey, petmalung mga lodi!”

You have probably heard a lot about new Filipino slang words such as lodi, werpa, and petmalu that the millennials often use in social media.

We don’t exactly know where they came from or how they started. Some say that the trend was popularized by the Facebook group What’s your ulam pare?

The group is into posting photos of what the members are currently eating. It is a community where everybody can appreciate the food, may it be fancy or not. Members inside the group call each other mga lodi, orb, and orbski. But what do these words really mean?

If the 70s and 80s take ownership of the words such as olats, jeproks, and erpats, the kids of today are now using trendy new slang terms in this era!

Here is a list of some of the words that millennials use which you should know in order to catch up!

1. Lodi n. /lo-di/
Lodi was derived from the word “idol”, spelled backwards. It refers to someone who always does a great job in any task at hand. Basically, it is telling someone that you are idolizing him/her or what he/she does.

Example:

“OMG, Lodi! You are so great!”
“Go, Lodi! Kayang-kaya mo ‘yan!”

2. Petmalu a. /pet-ma-lu/
Petmalu is a play on the word “malupet” or “malupit”. This term describes an activity or an object that is quite unique, outstanding, and/or trendy.

Example:

“Wow! Petmalu ‘yang t-shirt mo ah!”
“Petmalu ‘yong concert ng Seventeen kagabi!”

3. Orb n. /orb/ / Orbski n. /orb-ski/ / Erp n. /erp/
Orb, Orbski, and Erp came from “Bro” (short term for ‘brother’), "Broskie" (another term for 'bro' or 'brother') , and “Pre” (short term for ‘pare’), respectively. These three, serve as a term of endearment for a close friend.

Example:

4. Matsala n. /mat-sa-la/
Matsala originated from the word “Salamat”, somewhat backwards. It is used when you are acknowledging a gift, compliment, praise, etc.

Example:

“Matsalasa sa time and effort mo, babe!”

5. Werpa n. /wer-pa/
Werpa is from the word “pawer” (power) which is used when you are supporting people on what they are doing.

Example:

“Kuya, more werpa sa inyo ng jowa mo!”
“Kaya mo yan! Werpa!”

6. Enka v. /en-ka/
Enka is from the word "kain" which literally means to eat.

Example:

"Enka tayo mga lodi!"
"Enka na orb!"

7. Rapsa a. /rap-sa/
Rapsa originated from the word "sarap" with the syllables on backwards. It is used to describe how good the food tastes.

Example:

"Rapsa naman niyan!"
"Ang rapsa naman ng kinakain ko."

Though the use of interchanging words and jumbled syllables became famous in the 70s and 80s, this shows that times may pass yet the wit and humor of the Filipino youth will never change. This will stay embedded in the hearts and culture of every Noypi whatever age they may be. //by Drenisse Moleta and Max Salvador

Feature: How Not To Survive Hell Week

10/26/2017 09:01:00 PM Media Center 0 Comments

1. Rest and Relaxation
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/d1/df/6f/d1df6f9e05d7fb68363e3df2fafc7908--study-techniques-study-methods.jpg

2. Amnesia Therapy
https://hitraveltales.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/sophie-scholl-memorial-scattered-papers-in-munich.jpg

3. Travelling and Wanderlust

Boriiiing.

4. Recreation
https://hitraveltales.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/sophie-scholl-memorial-scattered-papers-in-munich.jpg

GO!

5. Bonding Time with Friends
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/d1/df/6f/d1df6f9e05d7fb68363e3df2fafc7908--study-techniques-study-methods.jpg
That’s what friends are for nga, di ba?

Sports: Junior Tankers swim their way to the podium

10/26/2017 08:58:00 PM Media Center 0 Comments

The University of the Philippines Integrated School Varsity Swimming Team (UPISVST) Junior Tankers bagged the 2nd runner up in the girls’ division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 held last October 12 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Center, Manila.

Chelo Neri also clinched the Rookie of the Year award after her spectacular performance during the girls’ division.

Zoe Hilario succeeded in taking home 3 medals from her events. She clinched 1st in the 100 and 200 m Backstroke events and also bagged bronze in her 400m event.

“I think ‘yung performance ko okay lang pero it could have been better. To make next season better, I’ll work harder and focus on our goal more,” Hilario said when asked about her thoughts on her own performance this season.

Alongside Hilario, Cha Esmero placed 2nd in the Girls’ 200 m freestyle and 3rd in the 100 and 200 m backstroke and 400 m Freestyle events.

On the other hand, Drew Magbag was the lone medalist from the Boys Junior Tankers. Magbag took home a bronze, placing 3rd in his 50 m Breaststroke event.

One of their coaches, Denjylie Cordero, has a positive reaction regarding the overall team performance of the Junior Tankers.

“My assessment this season for the UPISVST is that they have leveled up on their character as an athlete. It is because they have become more matured. They’re braver this time around despite the fact that they lack on training. They fought from the start up to the end, with that I can see a better future for the junior team,” Cordero said.

All in all, the Junior Tankers did a good job this season, but they also promised to come back a lot stronger, fiercer, and more competitive in the next season. //by Yanna Reblando, Carlos Laderas, with reports from Jasmine Esguerra

Opinion: Human Rights, Left Behind

10/26/2017 08:46:00 PM Media Center 1 Comments

Human rights are inherent to all human beings, whatever nationality, gender, or color. Everyone is equally entitled to these, yet there are still some countries or states in the world that violate them.

This is why the United Nations (UN) created the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which comprises 47 elected states, with the Philippines as one of the founding states. It aims to strengthen the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe as well as to address various situations of human rights violations.

The UNHRC gives recommendations on what appropriate actions the nations should take when there are problems regarding the codes and rules implemented by the council. These are sent to and should be addressed by the administration in member nations.

According to the Human Rights Watch (HRW), the UNHRC has sent 257 recommendations to President Duterte ever since the beginning of his Administration, 154 of which were dismissed. Disregarding these suggestions alone threatens the Philippines’ place in the UNHRC, not to mention the fact that the President openly cussed at the European ambassadors for “interfering with our affairs.”

This is why around early October of this year, there was speculation reported by Rappler in an article that the Philippines was going to be kicked out of the UNHRC because of the alleged extrajudicial killings committed under the Duterte administration.

These extrajudicial killings violate basic human rights, leaving victims left and right. The victims usually end up with parts of their corpses wrapped up in packing tape and with signs conveying messages that they are drug dealers or pushers and that they should not be pitied, looked up to, or respected as human beings.

A noticeable portion of these killings were also reported to be caused by members of the police force. These have been accompanied with accounts on how the people they killed were legitimate drug dealers or pushers, and that they got what they deserved.

However, they have not yet been convicted for any of their alleged crimes, and as they are still human beings, having their rights ignored in exchange for a skewed sense of justice is flat out appalling. According to the constitution, all have the right to due process when accused of criminal acts (Article III: Bill of Rights, Section 1). Being subjected to these extrajudicial killings denies people of this right, as they have already been “...deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.”

It is clear from these issues why the UNHRC would consider removing the country from the council. The majority of actions under the Duterte administration have been controversial, to say the least, oftentimes resulting in the death of one innocent or another. Add to that his disregard of the various complaints about how he runs the drug war, as well as how he thinks that the killings are justified, and that gives a reason as to why the UNHRC wants the Philippines out.

However, one man’s actions do not reflect the disposition of the entire state. As such, this cannot be considered as a concrete reason for the Philippines to be stripped of its privilege as a member of the UNHRC.

People who actively denounce these brutal activities make it clear that they are not behind President Duterte.

They are those who seek to change the current situation concerning this issue and will not allow it to continue any further. It shows that, even though a sizable chunk within the government goes against the UNHRC, the Filipino people are still aware of and continue to support what is right not only for themselves but for the rest of their countrymen.

Yes, this whole ordeal stems from the actions of people who give no regard for the rights of others. The dismissal of the recommendations and the council itself would clearly result in the eventual absence of any sense of human rights in the country. Ignorance encourages the killings to continue. This will lead to a slow collapse of society brought about by vigilantes seeking to avenge their slain family or friend, violent outcries against an unjust government, and the continuous death of countless innocents.

But the current administration is still young and has yet to reach its full potential. It has plenty of room for improvement, and with the help of the UN to further encourage it to follow their recommendations, it will surely foster a nation that respects and upholds the rights of every citizen of the Philippines. //by Philip Jocano, Marlyn Go and Francis Eloriaga

10/26/2017 08:35:00 PM Media Center 0 Comments

How to execute a successful Acque? YOUTH start planning early.

The Acquaintance Party (Acque) of batches 2022 and 2023 was held last Monday, October 23, 2017, at the UPIS 7-12 Gymnasium.

This annual event is organized by the Sophomore's Association (SoA) and Freshman Association (FA) to establish camaraderie between their batches and to officially welcome the Grade 7 students to high school.

This year’s “Youth” theme was inspired by the freshmen’s chance to bid farewell to their younger selves.

“’Yun na po yung ‘last children’s party’ nila since nasa high school na po sila [tapos] hindi na po sila mga ‘kids’” said Roczanne Dela Cruz, Sophomore Association (SoA) President.

Other games such as relays were also held. In total, there were 195 attendees in the event. //by Nica Desierto

Students from Batch 2020 competed in CA EMA’s Speech Choir Competition at the UPIS Gym last October 25.

This competition is a yearly activity and said batch performed Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” where each of the two groups per section performed their own interpretation of the piece.

Ipil took the crown with their performance on how adults stand as guide for teenagers. Meanwhile, Narra’s Group Two placed 2nd with a concept on soldiers and Narra’s Group One placed 3rd for showcasing the life of a singer who is finally rising to fame.

“Super shocked po kami sa results kasi kami pinakatamad na grupo sa pag-practice tapos I think kami rin po pinakamababa sa pre-performance,” quoted Erika Sasazawa, one of the members of Ipil, on their unexpected win. //by Nico Javier

A surprise earthquake drill was done at the University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) last October 25.

The drill was signalled by a long bell notifying the students to duck, cover, and hold. After the bell, students went to the designated evacuation sites, the UPIS 7-12 Driveway for those in Grades 7-12 and the area in front of the Sampaguita Residence for K-2 and 3-6.

The drill was unannounced to see how ready UPIS students are for an occurrence of an earthquake.

Prof. Paul Mabaquiao, head of the Health and Physical Education Department, said that the performance of the students was better compared to the previous drill. //by Alex Yangco

For 2x9: UPCAT Tips from UPIS Alumni

10/20/2017 07:01:00 PM Media Center 0 Comments

“Breathe. As much as possible, try to enjoy the UPCAT. Forget the pressure during this time because it won’t help you.
At this point, there’s no use studying/cramming for the UPCAT. Have faith in your stock knowledge or what you know as of now. It’s all you need tbh!
Do something fun or therapeutic before the UPCAT! It helps that you’re happy and relaxed before the test. Watching a feel-good movie or video will go a long way.
More werpa, batch 2018!”
Disa Reyes, UPIS 2014
4th year BS Business Administration, UP Diliman

“Hi Batch 2018! I know you're all scared but they say the UPCAT is the easiest college entrance exam. The thing that makes it hard is the competition. Just a few tips- skip the questions you find hard and go back after everything. Don't spend too much time on one question ‘cause you might not get the chance to even answer the others.
Relax before the exam. Don't stress yourself too much. All you need to know has been taught to you in school for the past few years.
Also, don’t forget to treat yourself after the exam! You guys deserve it! Good luck guys!!! Rooting for all of you!!!”
Chey Abueg, UPIS 2013
4th year B Public Administration, UP Diliman

“Visit your exam centers days before exam. Follow instructions!
'Wag kakabahan, tiwala lang sa sarili. Isipin niyong papasa kayo. At magbaon ng maraming confidence. Good luck!"
Bea Zamora, UPIS 2015
3rd year BS Geodetic Engineering, UP Diliman

“Take your time.
Macky Barrientos, UPIS 2015
3rd year BS Geology, UP Diliman
Oblation Scholar

Michael Basilio, UPIS 2015
3rd year BS Electronics & Communications Engineering, UP Diliman

Jaime Mejia, UPIS 2014
4th year BS Civil Engineering, UP Diliman

“I remember how nerve wracking the UPCAT can be, but I just want you to remember to be calm and collected. Make yourself as comfortable as possible this weekend.
Read the instructions and questions carefully, as tempting as it is to use shotgun, keep in mind it’s better to make educated guesses.
Trust that you’ve prepared for this day and believe that you can do it, don’t let stress or pressure get to you. Good luck!!”
Red Rivera, UPIS 2014
4th year BA Speech Communication, UP Diliman

Good luck, 2x9!!
Kai Cardoz, Batch 2014
4th year B Public Administration, UP Diliman

“Matulog nang maaga para may energy!!!
Magising rin nang maaga kasi bawal ma-late! Expect heavy traffic.
Kumain before the exam pero wag masyadong magpakabusog. After the exam na lang kumain nang marami to celebrate!
Kayang-kaya niyo yan! We’re all rooting for you guys!”
Anna Punzalan, UPIS 2015
3rd year BA Broadcast Communication, UP Diliman

“MAG-ARAL.

Check, check, check. Walang masama magdouble check ng sagot.

PRAY.

HAHAHAHA. Sabi nga nila, 'yan daw ang pinakamadaling exam na ite-take niyo sa buong UP life niyo, kasi ‘pag nakapasok na kayo sa UP, ‘dun magkakaalaman. Kaya chill lang mga bes. Galingan ninyo at tiwala lang!
Good luck, Batch 2018!"
Quiela Salazar, UPIS 2015
3rd year BS Psychology, UP Diliman

“Hold on to your UPIS education while taking the UPCAT. Focus lang. Don't stress too much about the result right away (there are many ways to enter UP!) but at the same time, be careful when you answer the test items. Taking UPCAT is one thing, finishing your undergraduate degree in this university is another. Marami pa tayong haharapin but always remember to find the joy in the things that we do.
Aim for 100% UPIS Batch 2018! God Bless!”
Shari Oliquino, UPIS 2013
1st year MA Community Development, UP Diliman
UP Student Regent

Iyaq.

5) RELAX. As in. Tsaka i-enjoy niyo yung exam.

Break a leg babies! Fierce and love."
