Literary (Submission): Can't Escape

Little steps on the ground,
Chasing the wind,
Mind going around in circles,
Trying to run and hide,
On the edges of the wall,
Diving to the deepest part of the well,
Reaching a fruitless tree,
As they start to take a step on a roadless way.

Run!
Hide!
Run!
Hide!
Run!

The monster is coming!
Embracing the roots of pain,
Crawling with thoughts of blame,
Dragging feet down the worthless ground,
Until it locks the hands with handcuffs of no escape,
And now, trapped in a jail of endless whys and hows.

How cruel the monster is!
How cruel!
Cruel.

The monster doesn't come out of the experiment,
Nor under the bed,
But it comes from a place where you surely cannot hide,
It comes from the head,
Where whispers turn to screams.

UNLOVED!
UNWANTED!
WORTHLESS!

And together they create a melody you never wanted to hear,
But it is there,
A harmony that poisons your mind,
Your soul,
Your heart,
Your life,
You.

Because there is nothing more cruel than your own mind,
So try to run and hide,
As if it will never catch you,

But how can you run and hide from yourself?
