I didn’t hear you
When you said you loved me
I couldn’t read
When you wrote to tell me you cared

You didn’t hear me
When I sang you a song
You couldn’t read
When I wrote you this poem

We didn’t hear
The echoes of our hollow hearts
Screaming and begging
For the love to come back

We couldn’t read
Though it’s written in the stars
We held back the words
That once held us together

For we cannot hear what is unsaid
And our unsent letters will always be unread
