“Sobrang saya and unexpected na magkakamedal ako kasi it’s an international compe[tition],” Hilario expressed. “Our only target was to get good times in our events,” the sophomore student-athlete added.

The SNAG Competition is a tournament for Singaporean swimmers to qualify for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games but foreigners who want to compete can also join. In this event, Singaporean nationals were prioritized leaving only four slots for the foreigner swimmers in the finals division.

According to her, she prepared for this tournament in the same way she gets ready for University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season competitions. Despite having a lot of schoolwork, she doesn’t miss her trainings once on weekdays and twice on Saturdays. //by Carlos Laderas and Jaggie Gregorio
