When the universe chooses
To pull the currents,
Shake the earth,
And freeze the air,
Do not think
You are invincible.
You may not
turn the currents,
Still the shaking,
Or warm the air,
But the fact that you
are still standing
Is testament enough
That to be vulnerable
Is nothing to be ashamed of.

When the world dares
To turn their back on you,
kick you to the curb,
And push you six-feet under,
Do not think
You are indomitable.
You may not
Face them with indifference,
Stand up fast enough,
Or pull yourself up with ease,
But the fact that you
Are still staring humanity in the eye
Is evidence enough
That to be alive
Is nothing you can't handle.

When life glories
At the mistakes you have made,
Shortcomings too long to make up for,
And the failure of your choices,
Do not think
You are bulletproof.
You may not
Get it right the first time.
Be enough for some,
Or make the right choices,
But the fact that you
Are still alive today
Is reason enough
To make it through tomorrow.
