Odyssey

Today, we lift our anchors once more
For a journey bound for regret.
We look for a beaming horizon
Lined with chances we withheld.

Today, we are on the same ship
For a voyage I'm not sure is worth it.
We stand on the creaking floorboards
Varnished with memories that don’t seem to last.

Today, we raise the sail as one
For a quest with a course uncertain.
We pin places on the threadbare map
Tattered by promises that hold no meaning.

Today, we wage war on the currents
For an adventure we wish we saved for another.
We row against the tossing waves
Battered by conversations teeming with silence.

Tonight, we are on our way home
From an undertaking we're finally ready to let go.

Iliad

Years ago, we took our arms
For a crusade with end uncertain.
With steady hearts and hopes held high,
We took the charge and fought.

Years ago, we were on the same field
For a siege I hoped we'll last.
With you beside me and fate against,
We tried our best to hold the line.

Years ago, we raised the banners as one
For a final stand bound for defeat.
With faltering hearts and falling hopes,
We slowly fell apart.

Years ago, we waged war against our foes
For a battle better fought for another.
With prospects grim and all hope lost,
We realised there's nothing left to do.

Years ago, we went on our way home
From an undertaking we were finally ready to give up.
