dandelion,
The carnival of carefree play
Sits atop a mountain
Branded "Felicitous Haven"
A pair of young lovers
With their hands intertwined
Their bodies entwine
Two pairs of innocent eyes twinkling
At a scenery, very much enchanting
The carnival, seemingly a kaleidoscope of colours in an artistic display
A colored carousel
Fashioned with bright streamers
The glaring neon lights
And the ever-so-frightening roller coaster
The luscious taste of candy apple
Its aroma, a very tempting scent of maple
The softness of cotton candy
Its sugary taste that comes very handy
As people go around merrily
Their faces painted with nothing but glee
Caught in a moment so surreal
The captivating music of the violin impels their bodies to dance
Lanterns seemingly pouring their gleaming brilliance
The beating of the drums resonates across the carnival
Their hearts thump in tune with the beating—
To what seems to be a beating of the never-ending drums
The never-ending beating of the drums
However—
The festivities along with all their majesty
Suddenly come to a complete halt
Nothing—
But deafening silence
All the violins cease
The music that impelled their feet to dancing
To the giddy dance of passion--
Silent are the violins
All the lanterns now are darkened
The lanterns that once poured their streaming brilliance
On the masquerades and murmurs--
Darkened now are all the lanterns
The picture takes them both aback
For the image begins to shift, completely turns black
Illusions fade, blue skies turn grey,
What once seemed certain,
Has dropped defeated, dreams fray
Now however,
The carnival
Has long since stripped its careless way
Coined senseless, nothing but child's play
Young love branded merely as innocence
The very embodiment of imprudence
A distant memory
Was the carnival of carefree play
The carnival that was once "Felicitous Haven"
