Suzy Uy competed in the 2017 Hongkong Mantas Invitational Meet at Sha Tin, Hongkong last April 29-30, 2017.
Uy ranked 7th and 10th in her 100M breastroke and 100M backstroke events, respectively. She also placed 11th in both 50M and 100M butterfly events.
She competed as a member of the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Club for the tournament and was matched with other 15-19 year old swimmers.
PCA placed third overall in the said event.
According to her, she has been struggling to find her love for swimming these past days. “For a while ayaw ko na magswimming, kasi feeling ko na-burn out na ako,” she said.
But this competition snapped her back to reality, making her realize she can’t live without her passion.
“I stopped comparing myself to others because I realized that my biggest enemy is myself and that there’s always room for improvement kasi in order to succeed, you need to fail first,” she shared. //by Maica Cabrera and Julian Taloma
