a. ham,
What is this that lies between us, o love
This subtle and indescribable bond?
‘Tis a shared breath of air
Which kissed our cheeks,
Ungraspable yet undoubtedly there,
‘Tis the warmth of each other
Which thaws our whole being
A hearth against the freezing winter
But more than that which is tangible-
‘Tis something that words cannot attempt to touch,
A feeling that reaches to the very soul
Beyond the realm of thought
‘Tis basal, animal and yet divine
Fiery, raging, passionate,
Yet, peaceful, calm
And beautiful
But alas, what is this that lies between us
This great gargantuan bond?
‘Tis a mere metre, perhaps
That Fate ordained
Yet it feels like kilometres
A wall of starstuff
Which refuses to yield or fall
Letting us be close yet not together
Yes, Fate has led our paths to cross,
Yet cruelly it keeps us still star-crossed
