UPIS Seniors place third in Econ-no-mix Idea Generation

Grade 10 students Enzo Bautista, Rene Rollon II, and Hazel Romero, and their Gawad Kalinga Camp proposal won 2nd runner up honors in the idea generation contest of Econ-no-mix last February 29 at the School of Economics.

Econ-no-mix is an annual series of economic contests organized by the UP Organization of Business Economic Majors (UP OBEM). This year’s theme was “UPSURGE: Shaping Economies Through Heightened Tourism.”

The Idea Generation contest required participants to make a project proposal advertising volunteerism in the Filipino community.

The Quiz Bee was held on February 29, 2016 with the team of Ernest Arceo, Chesca Santiago, and Rachel Siringan qualified for and competed in the semi-finals.

Bautista, Hillary Fajutagana, and Hannah Manalo also one against School of Saint Anthony in the first round of the debate on whether or not tourism should be abandoned as a development strategy in the Philippines. They lost to Quezon City Science High School.

UPIS also sent representatives to other Econ-no-mix events such as poster making and essay-writing. / Layla Wadi
