My mother has
Taught me
That promises
Are meant
To be broken;
That even pinky swears,
And swear-to-hearts
Are not concrete assurances.

And you
Breaking each
And every one of it
Made me realize
All the lies
Within your eyes;
That promises
Aren’t just
Meant to be broken
But are also
Meant to hurt.
