We looked in the mirror
My mother said I looked pretty
With my smile so wide
And fake
And my cheeks so red
From crying

I looked in the mirror
To see if it’s true
But it seems as though
Every time I look at it
I see nothing
I’m not there

Where did I go?
Do I exist?
Am I here?
Can you see me?
Am I real?

If mirrors show truths
Then I’m not it
If I’m here
Wouldn’t I feel it?
If only I can feel me
If only I am here.

My mother smiled and said I looked pretty.
