Grade 1 and 2 students from Balitang K-2 attended a poetry and illustration workshop at the K-2 Building on April 21 and 23.

The workshop aimed to train the participants to write their own poems about their ambitions and to draw their counterpart illustrations.

The poetry workshop was facilitated by Ms. Hannah Mae Portugal. She started the discussion with a short introduction to poetry followed by a rhyming game. Afterwards, she let the students create a poem with the theme “I am poem.”

On the other hand, the illustration workshop was led by Ms. Ella Mae Ladignon. She began the activity with a discussion on the basics of drawing. Then she guided the students to sketch a drawing using a line from the poem they created.

“They learned the fundamentals of writing poetry and illustrating. These are lessons that are easy to apply and it shows in the drafts that they made for their poems and illustrations. They greatly enjoyed the workshops,” Ms. Blas shared.

The works of the students are posted at the K-2 Building Week from May 7 to 11 in celebration of the Balitang K-2 Week.//by Nica Desierto
