Literary: From a Sea

Called

What once sunk to the bottom
Now comes to float once more
From the murky depths it sat on
To the surface must it soar

With a song, it’s told to rise
And a dance tells it to glisten
With a glance from solemn, pleading eyes
You call on and listen

Captured

Cast into shallow water
With close to no certainty
Of what catch you might gather
From waves that sway on, gently

In a single, solid motion
You give your hopes to chance
With a brave, resolute notion
You capture the sea’s resonance

Collected

On the crescent shoreline
Whilst walking on coarse sand
The rays of sunset begin to shine
Over distant, deep indigo land

You stare at the horizon
As it closes out the day
You step out softly as you move on
Collecting seashells on the way
