Literary: Sticky Notes

It’s funny what people choose to remember. Our mind, even when we don’t notice it, chooses what matters most to us. Something we know we will need in the future, becomes a memory. A little post-it in our brain that reminds us whenever we try to extract that memory we left behind. Yet sometimes, we try and try to tap into our brains, looking for those little sticky notes, but we end up blank.

No, it’s not even about ending up blank. It’s about never wanting to look back on those memories again. Like wanting to shove those sticky notes in a shredder and hope that everybody else has forgotten about your past, too. But never forget that life is full of opportunities for you to be happy. Recognize the superb memories like you remind yourself of the lousy ones.

Yet you, you remember all the pain you’ve been through and all the anguish in you. Is it too much to ask for you to remember all the joy in the world? Is the idea of the universe being so gargantuan and celestial not enough for you? You dream of sleeping with the stars and the sky as your kingdom, yet you forget that this wondrous world is open for you to explore.

Your despair will only limit what you can achieve in this brilliant world. Take the memories; the good, the not-so-good, and the great. Make them bow to your will and shape them. Make your own stars and make this world your kingdom. Then the Earth will thank you for the memories you've left behind for generations to come.

If you are still not convinced, I could fill a hundred post-its right now. Every single one would remind you to remember how amazing life is when you start living it.
