Valentine’s Day is nearing,
Those who seek romance are appearing,
They search for what they do not have,
They forget the love they already have,
Do you remember what you love and hold dear?
Do you remember those you keep near?
Are you sure that these things you do not squander?
Take a moment to ask yourself and ponder,
When did you last go out to play?
Mother calling you to dinner at the end of the day.
When did you last use the swing set after class?
In a playground covered in grass.
When did you last study for a test?
To give it all your best.
When did you last play with your toys?
Crashing them together in a loud noise.
When did you last feed your first pet?
Later cleaning the newspaper they wet.
When did you last cry on your parent's shoulder?
Clinging for support like a boulder.
Don't undervalue the routine and mundane,
Don't wait for when it’s over and you can't do it again,
For the day will come in our lifetime,
You will wish that it was not the last time.
