It begins as unlikely as you think it might
You open your eyes, you step too light
The world begins its symphony
Red, blue, yellow in synchrony

The world spins and twirls
The ground breathes, unfurls
The air shakes in anticipation
The feeling in your bones, unbridled tension

Liquid in your lungs, liquid bones
Your voice in silent ever-tones
Words fly by in tick-tock sync
Sense undone, on vomit-brink

The tables are shapes, paper cut out
Pop-up book, get me out
The sounds buzz like a busy bee beat
World rewound, fast-forward, repeat

The solids shift, marshmallow from leather
Your brain it floats as light as a feather
Body forgotten the urge to flow
Floating along the undertow

Eventually the spinning stops
Suddenly the floating drops
The blinding light glows dimmer
The buzzing bees, not a twitter

A memory to remember, imprinted on me
The ghost of an idea, never to see
What had happened? I hadn’t a clue
But deep inside somewhere I knew

Dissociation.
