Students from the University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics (UP CHK) held a free dance session last 26 September, 2018 at the 3-6 Bulwagan. The session was joined by parents and teachers.

It marked the third week of a fitness dance program at the UP Integrated School (UPIS).

The program is organised by parent Joy Wadi, who said it is for the physical fitness of mommies and women in UPIS.

“Okay lang naman [ang experience]. Madali lang masundan mga steps na tinuturo nila,” said Maria Ronelli Espina, a UPIS teacher who participated in the program.

Holding free fitness dance classes for the community is a requirement for students of the CHK’s Fitness Dance class (SS 120). Similar programs were held before in the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) and the UP College of Mass Communication (MassComm).

Wadi also suggested that the program be continued by future SS 120 classes. Professor Zyra Ruth Brebante, the instructor, liked the idea and approved of such, as long as there is a teacher for the classes.

The classes are planned to continue for the remainder of the first semester, until December. It will be held every Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Everyone, including students, parents, and school staff, are encouraged to join.

“It’s free and it's in UPIS, so di na kailangan pang lumayo,” said Espina.
