Student leaders join forces in LC 2017
Around one hundred sixty (160) UPIS student leaders took part in the annual Leadership Camp (LC) held last September 23-24 at the UPIS 7-12 grounds.
Led by the Pamunuan ng Kamag-aral (pKA) 3-10, the event themed “Iskore Values: Isaisip, Isapuso, Isabuhay” aimed to embolden student leaders on their commitment to uphold the UPIS core values: freedom, justice, love, peace, and truth.
This year’s LC featured parallel sessions on truth and justice within the family and school. Grades 3-6 and 7-10 participants had separate sessions held simultaneously with topics, activities, and approaches in order to address and talk about the particular challenges that they encounter as leaders.
Moreover, plenary sessions about truth and justice in social media and the current state of the country were facilitated by Prof. Shareehan Lucman and Atty. Andre Palacios respectively.
In addition to this, the student leaders also participated in activities such as Tatak ISKOre and Hard Core (team building activities), CORE-rek ka d’yan (work sessions), reCOREding activities (consolidation of an organization’s projects), and the ISKOre Mo, Show Mo! (socialization/fellowship).
At the end of every parallel and plenary session, the pKA showed testimonial videos from previous LC participants, past KA officers, and former KA advisers.
The camp concluded with In-CORE-porated, where they evaluated the two-day camp, and the CORE-nation, where winners in the camp activities were awarded. //by Bryan Lina
