I bet all my chips
Against overwhelming odds
For impossible stakes

In an unfair game

Had stacked decks fixed behind me
When my hand always won
Had loaded dice thrown against me
When my rolls equaled none

"Wouldn't it be better,"
You ask
"If you'd just accept your losses,
Move on with your gains,
Stand up from this table
And finally call it a day?"

I grin.

"Wouldn't it be better?" you ask again.

And to that I'll always say
"Not a chance."
