UPIS places 3rd in NMMME Olympiad

UPIS bagged 3rd place in the National Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering (NMMME) Olympiad held at the UP Diliman College of Engineering last September 22-24.

Jarod De Luna and Frederick Samonte of 11 – Zara and Michael Catipay of 10 – Ipil competed in the Olympiad hosted by the UP Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering Association, Inc commonly known as the UP 49ers. The competition is part of the 8th annual NMMME Summit themed “Adawi: Tracing the Pioneer Track Towards Innovation.”

The three-day event consisted of the Interactive Student Conference, Student Olympiad, Materials Innovation, Idea Competition, MMM Lab Tour, TeaMMM Building, and other activities such as workshops and seminars that aimed to enlighten high school students about the MMM industry.

Philippine Science High-School-SOCCSKSARGEN ranked 1st while Pasay City Science High School landed 2nd place in the competition. Around 100 senior high school students from all over the country competed in the said event. //by Hanzvic Dellomas
