Literary (Submission): If Only You Knew

If only you knew what I know to be true of the glistening brown in your eyes.
No star could compare to the warmth in your stare— not even a blazing sunrise.
Full of praise was your fatherly gaze, unlike any I’ve seen since then.
If only you knew of the pictures I drew in my mind of us meeting again.
Never did I think I’d say my goodbyes in that white square of pure emptiness.
If only you knew how I long for you to see me in a pristine white dress.
To see you once more is a thought I adore, though I know that the chance isn’t mine.
Years I will wait, ‘til with you, I can paint the first letter of every line.
