Tick-tock, tick-tock

Arriving hastily at the venue
Looking through the sky
You gaze upon the glaring sun
As bright as the flowers being handed out
They symbolize your achievement
You have made it through

Voices were being heard
Crowds cheering, shouting, and clapping
As names were being called
Medals being handed
Representing hard work shown

At last, you were called
Heart felt like a galloping horse
Sights narrowing down
Tick-tock, tick-tock
As the beat got louder and louder
Marching each step cautiously
Hoping not to trip

You were given a piece of paper,
The key to your future
Seen through your face
The glow of happiness
Mind slowly melting away
Staring at the faces of your family
The ones who’d helped you grow
The ones who planted the seed

You looked upon the disoriented faces of your peers
Who’d gone through the same wonders
Experienced life with you
It was indeed a feeling to be proud of
It was something that couldn’t be explained in words
Something that was intangible
An opportunity to show
You have made it

Ready to embark on a new journey,
Gaze upon the ceiling as bright as a dove
All were linked together like a chain
And ready to be free
As you threw your crown away
Passage of time began to slow
Tick-tock, tick-tock

You saw faces dropped on the floor
Full of melancholy emotion
That seeped through the eyes
Held an image that will haunt you
For whatever happened
Would remind you how fast time flies
Wishing it was longer

Even if you haven’t experienced it yet...

Eyes began to open
Breathing began to clear
Losing your grip of reality
Your mind remembered that
Time was ticking near
The last moment
To create memories with them
Or else… all would be forgotten
Tick-tock, tick-tock
Tick-tock, tick-tock
