basketball,
The UPIS Basketball Team bounced back big and played brilliant basketball on both ends of the floor en route to their first win in two outings via an 81-59 drubbing of De La Salle Zobel last November 15 at the FIlOil Flying V Arena, San Juan City.
Juan Gomez de Liano led the team with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists while Rafael Labao chipped in 16 markers and 5 rebounds.
But it was a total team effort as the Junior Maroons played outstanding defense the whole game especially in the second quarter when they limited the Junior Archers to a mere 11 points. They also out-rebounded La Salle, 42-34.
This was a morale-boosting win for the team especially after going down against the Adamson Baby Falcons, 82-59, in their opening game on November 12.
Gomez De Liano also led all UPIS scorers in that game with his first double-double of the season, 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists but the defending champions proved too tough to handle.
The Junior Maroons go for a second straight win against the UE Junior Warriors next Saturday, November 19. //CCCA, with reports from Nathan Ramos
