Watching you intently, as you set up our game,
A game we have played a million times before.
Still, we stare into each other challenging,
But hesitant and unsure of what to do next.

Trying to strategize the turn I’m about to make,
My hand started to feel clammy.
Unlike my mind that is squeezed dry,
From imagining how this could work.

The gears in my head stopped instantly,
As if your hand above mine, was the brake I needed.
Looking you in the eye,
In there was the assurance I’ve been waiting for.

Sighing, I took the risk.
Tightening my grip on your hand,
I laid it all out, while saying;
“Your move.”
