Literary: Speechless
“Hi” was the only thing I could say
Before my mind went blank.
As I saw you walk my way,
My only thought was if you’d say “hi” back.
Whenever I see you,
A conversation is all I ask—
One longer than a minute or two.
Simply, in your presence, I bask.
I can’t help but wonder,
With opportunities ringing like a chime,
I let them pass and say “later”
Only to find out, there is no time.
Has this all been predestined?
I’ve tried it all to get closer
But, alas, in the bitter end,
It is I who drives myself farther.
But why? Why am I like this?
Change, am I to resist?
Will I forever keep myself from bliss?
No more, for without you I cannot exist.
That will soon be nothing more than the past.
With these words we shall part.
On the morrow I shall change at last,
And I shall look forward to a new start.
