YBC rises through the ranks
Yakal
Basketball Club (YBC), UPIS’ all-star basketball team, has won against all
challenges since its founding last November 2013.
The
team boasts of an outstanding 21-0 record, defeating highly acclaimed UPIS
teams such as Solar Boys and Tropang Balugs. Their most recent victory against
archrivals Narra Basketball Association (NBA) last Friday, 21-18, earned the
YBC a spot in the history of UPIS sports teams.
Founded
by Josiah Chua of 10-Yakal, it is composed of high-profile seniors Adam Lopez,
Benz Nacpil, Luis Perez, Lino Licuanan, David Matabang, Sano Amante, and Erwin
Hermosa.
The
YBC’s prowess has caught the eye of local hottie Freddy Pajarillaga of 10-Ipil.
“They’re really good,” Pajarillaga said, “I wish I could play as well as them.”
Pajarillaga
expressed his intention to join the team, but his ball handling skills did not
meet the YBC’s standards.
