The first-ever basketball and volleyball exhibition game of University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) faculty, staff, and students against some alumni of the school was held last November 14 and 16.

This was part of the Health and PE Days 2018: Health, Fitness, and Wellness Fair. According to Prof. Grace Sumayo, the matches were organized to promote friendship and to show that it is good to come back to their alma mater because it will always be their family.

“Importante siya kasi nabi-build 'yung camaraderie sa pagitan ng teachers, sa lahat ng stakeholder ng UPIS: alumni, faculty, staff, students,” addded Mrs. Marvie Manalo, a faculty and alumna of UPIS.

The UPIS alumni dominated the basketball match as they finished with a score of 93-57. In the span of 4 quarters, UPIS constituents took turns in playing with their opponents.

On the other hand, an intense volleyball game was witnessed. On the first 2 sets, the alumni led the game with 25-21 and 25-20. But during the third and fourth set, the UPIS community bounced back as they scored 16-25 and 21-25. However, the alumni made sure to reclaim the win in the fifth set, with 25-15.

“Parang bumabalik ka 10 years ago, ang saya, may drummers, parang high school ulit,” said Dana Daguman of UPIS Batch 2012. Kapag naging alumni kayo, huwag kayong kakalimot,” she added as a message to the juniors.

“Sa Juniors, good luck. Sana mag final four sila. 'Yung hindi namin nakuhang final four sana sila makakuha no'n,” said Benz Nacpil of UPIS Batch 2014.//by Nicole Desierto and Geraldine Tingco
