Once upon a time, there was a god named Oblation. He was very kind and smart. He likes studying so he created a sanctuary called the University of the Philippines. It eventually became known as UP.
UP is a place where intelligent and hardworking mortals with meager resources enjoy studying in state of the art facilities. It is where they are taught to be the best and the brightest by the best and the brightest. The students lived in peace while taking up lessons that sharpened their minds and encouraged their spirit.
After some time, however, the students became lazy, rowdy, and irresponsible. Their behavior angered the god. Oblation thought that some of the students were not worthy of entering the sanctuary so he devised a system to filter the cream of the crop.
Thus, he created the UPCAT--a great inter-dimensional rift that tests the skills of a person who wants to enter UP.
