caitlin norona,
Even If All Things Fall Apart
by Caitlin Vea Norona
My love, my promise to
you
I’ll give you everything
I can
The time I spend with you
Is like being in a time
with no end
All the things we’ve been
through
Is like being in a meadow
filled with dew
A man like you only comes
once in a lifetime
That’s why I want you to
know
Until the earth is still
turning
And my heart is still
beating
Till the raging seas are
still flowing
And the mountains are
still standing
The light has turned from
bright to dark
You’d always be a part of
me
Even if all things fall
apart
When I’m with you, I feel
closer to heaven
You guide me through
everything
You act as my angel
For you’d do anything
To fix all the
misunderstanding
Life is like a slide,
full of ups and downs
But at least you could
try again and turn things around
For...
Until the earth is still turning
And my heart is still beating
Till the raging seas are still flowing
And the mountains are still standing
The light has turned from bright to dark
You’d always be a part of me
Even if all things fall apart
Even if all things fall
apart

For almost three
years I’ve been going back to a single memory, one that I could never reminisce
with anyone about. Except with you.
That point in time
was perfect, like a scene from a movie. At the center of a darkened field
surrounded by looming trees with laughing students hiding behind the trunks,
our silhouettes were facing each other. You asked me what it was that I wanted
to say but the tone of your voice hinted that you already knew. With my heart pounding in my ear, I told you
three words.
Afterwards, I ran
to my best friend and cried. I don’t think you noticed.
I carried on after
that with you being the only structure I had at the moment. But even that you
broke down as you left. It was foolish of me to think that saying I love you
would make you stay. Those words are heavy but never heavy enough to keep
anyone from leaving.
It didn’t seem like
you felt anything close to love towards me considering you left for someone
else. It didn’t take you a long time to act like it never happened. For three
years, you’ve been avoiding me. Trying not to ask anything from me as much as possible,
not even looking me in the eye when you talk to me. It was pathetic of you. Or
was that your way of being guilty?
What were you supposed
to be guilty of anyway? We were both just lying to each other, weren’t we?
It was fun while it
lasted, whatever it was that we were three years ago, but all I really want is
to be at peace. All I really want is to believe it never happened too.
So I’m letting it
go.
I loved the kind
things you told me to cheer me up. I loved the silence that hugs us when we’re
out of things to say. I loved the plans you made for us that we never got to
do. But what I never really loved was you. / by Morpheus

“Malaki
yung pasasalamat ko sa [UPIS]. More than just academics, social awareness ‘yung
natutunan ko dito” – Kara David
Noong

noodles at iba pang agarang pangangailangan.
Citizens Disaster Response Center (CDRC); Isang non-government organization at

You really just can’t explain the feeling.

celine medina,Sports: Girls’ Volleyball team prepares for UAAP wars
“[A] good game, not winning but fighting, as fighting maroons always say,” Ramsie Esguerra, the UPIS girls’ volleyball coach, said after he was asked on his expectations before their first game against UE last July 27 in Xavier School.
The team recently joined the Metro Sport Developmental Clinic league in preparation for this years’ UAAP games. Unfortunately, they lost 2 sets against UE, 9-25 and 12-25.
Coach Esguerra also said that joining this tournament is for the girls’ to gain experience and for him to see what they have learned from their months of training. He focuses more on the members’ individual skills which is also his basis for choosing the 12 girls who are currently in the line-up.
Team captain Melyssa Remorca of 9-Cacium also shared that she expects the team to always play a good game. She also hopes that the school will show their support by watching their games. / by Shaila Fortajada and Celine Medina

admin,UPIS holds 3-day mentoring workshop
A 3-day training seminar on mentoring for UPIS faculty members which aims to enhance and improve the teaching skills, strategies, working relationship and professionalism of the teachers was held last July 15-17 at the 7-10 Library.
This mentoring program is part of faculty development. It was initiated by the past administration under Dr. Aurora Zuniga.
The 3-day training was handled by retired UPIS faculty members and professors from the College of Education who are also affiliated with the Marie Eugenie Institute that sponsors mentoring programs.
Aside from affirming the UPIS mentoring advocacy, it also helped the teachers work better and cooperate with each other.
The seminar included lectures and demonstrations. There were also activities that aimed to help solve common problems in class and in the workplace. These are especially beneficial to the new teachers and helpful in re-affirming and reminding the more senior faculty members.
A similar training was held for the administration staff on July 20 and 22. / by Yaoi Gabriel, Micah Macasieb, Donna Roces, and Psalma Nadera
