Starting this year, the annual culminating program Pastores a Belen will no longer be part of the requirements for Music 7-9, according to the CA-EMA department head, Prof. Ma. Lourdes Vargas.

The Pastores will be replaced by a class production, which will cover what has been learned in the subject every first semester.

Mr. Leujim Martinez, the high school Music teacher, said that this is due to the conflicts of grade submission which is discouraged by the administration. The 30% of students’ grade in Music comes from their Pastores performance held every December. Hence, the first semester grades are given during the third quarter.

The class production is an experimental project and will be evaluated after its implementation.

The UP Junior Fighting Maroons lost to the UST Tiger Cubs, 67-61 and 60-58, in their first and second round games at the Blue Eagle Gym last June 30 and August 13.

In their first meeting, the Junior Maroons were able to close the gap after Diego Dario’s 3-point shot in the third quarter, 42-41, but failed to grab the lead in the entire game.

The Junior Maroons kept the game close behind the efforts of Jozhua General and Kim Cinco who finished as the team’s top scorers with 15 and 24 points respectively.

In their second round face-off, UPIS led by 6 at the end of the first half, 32-26, and by 3, 47-44, at the end of the 3rd quarter but UST capitalized on UPIS’ turnovers and outscored the Maroons in the second half.

Gelo Sablan finished with 15 points and Paolo Ancheta added 11 to lead all UPIS scorers. –CC, with reports from Anna Angala, Justin Dungo, Nadine Maximo

Nakakalungkot. Walang time gumawa ng HW.

Juris Hannah Adorna, 5-Makiling

Time for Another Change

Change seems to be the trend in the school this school year and it is happening at a blistering pace. Gone are our old blue pants and skirts with red and black now the school’s preferred colors. The old administration has also said goodbye. New authorities now wield power in our school. However, when enrollment came along, it was another change shocked that everyone. The old four day schedule bit the dust and everyone was stifled when they heard the news that Monday was again going to be a school day.

The change in schedule aims to give students more time for library work and for consultations with teachers. It also aimed evenly distribute the amount of work that students used to cram in four days. This was in response to a survey where parents and students alike were given an opportunity to voice their concerns and preferences about the old schedule.

5-day schedule,
