Literary (Submission): Sa Susunod Ulit

Tapos kakain tayo, mag-uusap.

Nakababaliw pala kapag bihira kang makita.

Salamat. Sa susunod ulit.

Literary (Submission): Fin

The minute I saw the way you gazed
At the dark night sky
With tears streaming down your eyes

I knew.

The moment you stopped talking,
Stopped giving the short and sweet giggles
That wash away your sadness,

I had a hunch.

The instant you got up
And gave me a hug,
The emptiest of them all,

I sensed

That it was the end.
The hardest,
The coldest,
And the last.

Literary (Submission): To Whoever Loves Him Next

He loves to joke around.
Sometimes it’s offensive but he knows when he steps out of line.
Please don’t take him too seriously
He has the most beautiful laugh and I’d hate to hear it fade

He also loves to talk.
He’ll call you, text you, and hang out with you.
Just so he can hear you talk about your life and everything in it
But please don’t forget to ask him about his day
And let him vent about his problems.
He’ll feel unimportant if you don’t.

He doesn’t get mixed signals.
If you’re upset, tell him.
Don’t let him torture himself,
With endless what if’s and probabilities
I made a mistake doing the latter,
So please make sure you don’t do it, too

He’ll push you away.
I guarantee you that he will.
He’s hurt people before
He just doesn’t want you to be one of them.
But please don’t leave him
He’ll think that he isn’t worth fighting for
But I’m telling you, he is.

Stick around and I promise that he’ll treat you
Like the best thing that has ever happened to him.

Literary (Submission): Father

To the guy I always wanted to meet
To the guy whom I wanted to say I love you to
To my father whom I never knew
This poem is for you

I live my life wondering where you are
Or thinking about who you are with
Sometimes I wonder if you even care
‘Cause when I need you most, you are not there

Dad, I just want to say
I always hope you stayed
I want to tell you the things I achieved while you were away
And that I’ll always love you anyway.

Literary (Submission): Under the Facade

Under the façade is a girl with tear-stricken eyes
She covers her mouth to muffle her heartbroken cries
Under the facade is a slowly withering rose
It watches as the thorns slowly kill her soul

For too long she pretended to be someone she’s not
For too long she avoided speaking her mind
For too long she feigned a happiness that wasn’t hers
Thinking that if she faked it, she might find it in time

Desperate for acceptance, desperate for a cure
She adorned herself with flowers and stuck them on her skin with glue
She was a walking hurricane disguised as a perfect spring meadow
A façade no one else could conjure, a mask no one could see through

At the end of the day she climbs out of her gold skin and exposes her true colors
She plucks out the flowers and returns to her barren soul
As she buries herself in the covers, she lets tears drip onto her pillow
Dreading the moment she will wake up tomorrow
