Sports: Aquino, Joves win gold at PSL meet
Pricila Aquino of 9-Sodium and Francheska Joves of 7-Jupiter and other members of the UPIS Varsity Swimming Team (VST) won medals and broke records during the 52nd Philippine Swimming League (PSL) leg last Sunday, January 26.Aquino won a total of 7 gold medals in the girls 16-year old division for the 400m, 200m, and 50m freestyle, zoom Individual Medley (IM), 100m backstroke, and a PSL record-breaking swim in the 100m breaststroke, with a time of 1.22 minutes.
Her accomplishments also earned her the Most Outstanding Swimmer Award in the girls 16-year old division.
Joves also won gold in the girls 12-year old division for 100m backstroke, and silver for both 200m IM and 50m freestyle events.
The UPIS VST bagged a total of 16 medals, with contributions from Daniel Directo (9-Platinum), Juneau Villanueva (9-Calcium), Drew Magbag (8-Honeybee) and Mae Rodgers (6-Onyx). / by Jean Gutierrez and Luis Perez
