The end of the school year is fast approaching and as schoolwork increases, most students tend to stay up late for their requirements. Sometimes, they also choose to drink coffee at night in order to stay awake until midnight. Because of this, they get acne or pimples!

In order to avoid having breakouts, we did research on some of the best tips for you to get a cleaner and clearer face. You might want to add this to your daily routine! Some of our schoolmates found these tips really effective! Who knows, it might be effective for you, too!

Tip # 1: Hydrate yourself!

It really is important to drink water every day. In fact, doctors require at least eight glasses of water a day. According to Amy Leland, a physician from Indiana School of University, drinking water can help your skin stay healthy, moisturized, and look fresh! Staying hydrated is also very essential especially during this season, because the heat can not only dry up your skin, but also make you dehydrated. So, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Tip # 2: Wash your face before sleeping!

Exhausted after a long day of classes? Exhausted after going to a fun night out? It’s still important to wash your face first before going to sleep. Make sure to make time of at least ten minutes to clean your face. Also, it is best to wash your face before sleeping to make sure you remove all the dirt, oil, and even make-up that you were wearing during the day. Make-up, along with dirt, will clog your pores, which will then lead to breakouts.

Ram Selva from 9-Gold states, “Throughout the day you encounter a lot of things that would cause dirt to stay on your face, which makes your face dirty. Because of this, I make it a habit to wash her face before going to sleep.”

Matthew De Castro from 10-Yakal, agrees with this, he states, “Because your skin needs time to breathe, too. Sleeping with make-up on may cause premature aging, wrinkles, and acne from the bacteria and dirt from pollution throughout the day.”

Tip # 3: Sunscreen and moisturizer are your best friends.

These sunscreen and moisturizers will really come in handy, especially now that it’s still summer. According to Marco Strzeszynski, content producer for InstaNatural, sunscreen not only protects your skin from UV rays; it also prevents your skin from developing signs of aging and protects the important proteins in your skin, such as collagen, keratin, and elastin, which are responsible for keeping your skin healthy. Moisturizers, on the other hand, prevents dry skin, protects sensitive skin, and reduces the appearance of blemishes.

Therese Papa from 12-Karunugan shared, “These products keep my skin hydrated and protects it from UV!”

This wonder duo works together in keeping your skin youthful and fresh, so you really should consider investing in buying them.

Tip # 4: Eat a healthy diet!

Having a healthy diet can actually help you take care of your skin. Healthy foods such as fruits and veggies contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that keep your skin healthy and radiant. So if you include these in your daily diet, it will help you look younger and fresher. This is one of the reasons why a lot of people who have complete discipline towards their diet look so young as their lifestyle helps them take real care of their skin.

Isa Isip of 10-Yakal, for example, said “I make it a habit to include healthy food in my diet. Eating veggies and fruits have such as being a source [MAB2] of vitamins, improving overall health, increasing collagen formation, and becoming less at risk for cancer.”

Tip # 5: Manage your stress!

You experience stress as a student. You sleep late at night, have midnight cravings for unhealthy food, and more. Having uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive which can trigger acne breakouts.

Take some time off to manage your stress. Try to get enough sleep because health is more important than anything else. In addition to this, set limits for yourself. Make a to-do list of things you will do for the day so that you get to manage your time, have enough rest and still enjoy the things you want to do.

Magan Basilio, pKA president, when asked how she manages her time said, “I tend to complete my to-do list as early as I can so I don’t end up worrying about the stuff I didn’t get to finish at the end of the day. This allows me to manage stress and have enough sleep at night!”
